Is there anyone else out there who is in the same position as me......I do not like my 13 year old step-daughter. I have tried everything on Gods green earth to be a good.step-mum. But she continues to cause friction everytime she visits. Her parents have always given her their love and time. She continues to come first in everything.
I'm so sick of her, am I a horrible person?
When you get with someone who has kids you shouldn't expect to come before your partners children.
Peoples children should always be their first priority.
Sounds like jealousy to me. Like it or not she was there first and was part of your husband's life first. She'll probably always come first so get used to it.

Naw, she attacked you personally for your comment, which I think is pretty low class. If someone asks for an opinion, then the conversation should be about that, not a personal attack.
Anyway, I'm sure she'll delete this one too, so I'll just PM you if you don't see this.
Ok thegypsysailor, go ahead call me everything under the sun if it makes you feel better. I said I don't like my step daughter. She comes first in everything meaning her parents puts her first (which I agree 100%). If I was jealous of this, I would never have married her father, geez. The fact that his a wonderful father is the reason I fell in love with him.
Now if this (not liking the step-daughter) makes me a horrible person, what do you call murderers, child molesters etc?

Why would a woman marry a man with a child she didn't like in the first place anyway? Stop trying to change the subject and focus on improving yourself unstead of trying to blame the rest of the world for your problems.
I have absolutely nothing to call you and I don't think I even commented on the post. I just think it's very low class when someone asks for opinions, then attacks someone personally when they don't like that opinion, so I commented on that, only.

Honestly, a lot of kids are gonna act like that toward their step parents. Its the whole step thing. It has a black cloud of disney evil surrounding it. The logical reason for it is she may thing youre trying to steal her dad away from her, or that youre trying to replace her birthmom. Try sitting down with your hubby and asking what you can do to get your daughter to see you in a different light. Or even better ask her yourself. If all else fails, there is always counseling.
The stepdaughter might be a brat too for all I know. But one of you should be the adult and show some understanding. Air out your dirty laundry on a forum and you're gonna get some brutally honest answers you might not like. Good luck.
