You have how many hours of practice shooting on the gun range? You are completely confident that your could actually kill another human being? Most people can't you know,and those are the ones who usually get killed with their own gun.
Sleeping with a firearm is of little use if you aren't capable and practiced in the use of that firearm.

Fire Extinguishers can provide limited protection. Spray him on the face when he breaks down the door. Bust his skull with a good baseball swing. Zip tie his hands together. Call the cops to take him to jail.
I recommend getting a permit to carry if you haven't already done so. I can understand why you would want a gun for protection. There's nothing wrong with that just as long as your intentions are for protection only. Don't be like some people who seem to feel powerful because they have a gun.
