Speech impediment

I'm a shy guy and at home when talking to my parents and stuff i can speak perfectly normally, but when i'm buying something from the shop and have to talk to the cashier, or in a social situation at school with people i dont know or trust, i cant speak properly. I start out normal but then start pronouncing everything with the letter 'B' before trailing off, e.g. 'Hey guys, do you bancy boing bown to bb-bb-buh boodball bund bung bung bettybumbuhr...' People look at me as if im mad or weird, i wish i didn't do it. is there anything anyone can suggest to help me?

You need to calm down a bit and take your talking slowly. What's happening is you're getting anxious. Take is slowly. Nothing is rushing you.

I don't think that is a speech impediment. I think that is social anxiety. Try taking therapy on how to deal with your anxiety issues. It would probably be beneficial. This has nothing to do with speech and everything to do with your ability to interact socially.

See a doctor. Like a neurologist (in case there's anything wrong with your brain) or a speech therapist.

I have a similar problem. When I'm by myself I can talk completely normally. But in public I sometimes have trouble saying words starting with 'A'. Its really weird, it comes and goes, and I dont consider myself shy at all. I have tried to look it up in the past for some answers but never really found anything... I just learnt to live with it and avoid saying 'A' words. If you have any answers, please post them back here!!

Focus when talking, try to read some literature in case you're not. That might help. Go and socialize more and never apologize or feel bad that you cannot talnk normally around the people ;) Be like you don't care. That will pass after a while.
