so my bf is 27, and his parents still pay for his stuff. they live out of state. but years ago my bf was a drug addict and had to go to a sober living house. he's clean now and doesn't do anything or drink, he'll smoke cigs and weed though. not a whole bunch but often i guess. he's in school, at uni. but his parents pay him $500 every week! he doesn't have a job or anything. is this normal? btw i'm almost 19 and we've been dating for 10 months

    I don't know why it should matter to you.

    This is common for wealthier families and nice that the person can focus on school instead of needing to also hold a job. In his case it sounds like everything got delayed due to his addiction, but being older wouldn't change his financial situation. I feel weird even answering this though because you should just be proud he is clean and not judgemental. Just love him!!

    Sooo you're 18 and with a 27 year old? technically by 27 he should already have at the very minimum have 15-20k of savings in the bank and a car. I'm 24 and that's what I have.

        Yes, some people care about the well-being of their children. My parents however kicked me out at 18 and wouldn't even help me get a driver license. My cousin her parent bought her a car at 17 and help pay her college. It sounds like his parents just love him and want him to succeed. Make sure he don't waste it.
