Are the voices/ thoughts coming from your head or is someone putting them there?
If it is the latter - go and see a doctor.

You say that it only happens when you are falling asleep - this is a normal state to be in. It is the inbetween stages of the conscious and unconcious (some people have stated the medical term).

Perhaps it is your brain trying to process the events of the day.

Try not to worry about it much. However if it is bothering you, or getting you down go and see your doctor just to put your mind at rest. However to me - as a mental health professional - it sounds completley normal.

  • this happens to me at night too, trust me its all in your head but don't be scared of that. honsestly, I like it and find it very comforting when it happens. Since I know that this is a part of me I can control it a bit and to the person saying to take a Xanax before bed, don't do legal drugs they fuck u up.

    Yeah this is totally normal.

Sometimes i hear people i know saying my name out loud like they're trying to get my attention.
    I've learned to ignore it.

    • no, I think he should just relax, realize its a part of himself, maybe be able to control it and go to bed like anyone else and not worry about it. it works for me and it should work for him as well

I sometimes hear voices of people and its stuff that they've never said. Its strange. My friend says she does that too. She started talking in a brittish accent one time cause she was talking in her head and didn't realize it when she started talking out loud. I think I just need more friends and thats why I talk to myself.

My mom said one time she was riding the bus and she saw one lady arguing with her reflection in the bus window...it was weird.

don't worry, that's all very common phenomena of the hypnogogic state between waking and sleep.
at that point you are still conscious, yet entering into the sub-conscious mind. this makes it so logical thought is thrown out the window, and anything can happen.
