Someone intentionally makes my life miserable at work

I work at a home improvement store and one of my duties is to clean the toilets after closing and pretty much every fucking day there's shit smeared all over the toilet and walls of one of the stalls. Manager said there's nothing she can do about it. I asked if I could hang out in one of the stalls for a day to find out who's doing it, she didn't like that idea. Am I being targeted by one of my co-workers? There was one day we had almost no customers and it still happened.

Check your contract very carefully and seek professional advice. If your employer wants you to clean shit smeared walls they have to be very careful that they've covered their backs legally, and most don't, or at least have loop holes

Maybe camera outside of bathroom entrance. Should narrow down list of suspects and won't be seen as a perv if you get caught.

my advice for you would be to get one of your friends to act as your spy i guess have them watch the stalls

  • This sounds like some childish coworker of yours. I would think that a patron showing up every other day would eventually stand out. The camera idea is a great one, but it would have to be well hidden as if other employees knew of it, the culprit would certainly find out and stop his skulldugery, leaving him still employed.

I think you can also get a good idea of who the asshole is simply by observing behaviors. What is said in the break room about it? Who laughs and who doesn't? Who avoids the topic and who talks openly about it? If you look for cues in people's behavior they tend to tell on themselves. Just a thought.

Grab a pressure washer, goggles, rubber gloves and rain gear from the isles and hose the fucker down from outside the bathroom door.

Soon they will ask someone else to do it.

Just find a way to be taking a dump all day long, then they legally can’t stop you from being in there!

It might get OP in trouble. Maybe they can ask the manager to switch that duty for a while and check to see whether the soiling persists. Might give OP the idea whether or not they are being targeted.
It is a pretty annoying situation to be in.

Edit: Swick gave a good idea.
