If a guy asks me out, would it be rude to ask him if I could think about it? I would give them an answer eventually, maybe like a few hours later? Is that normal?

Yes i agree ^^ Tell him your really busy or your going be out of town or something and then tell him you'll get back to him. Text him and let him know when you are available if you want to see him and if not just make up an excuse.
I think it is ok but, be discrete. Say "thank you, but I need to check my calendar" ... this gives you time to think...

I wouldn't have a problem with it but when you tell him that don't say it with some sense of fear he'll be offended.
It's only when you try not to offend people that you will inevitably do so.
if you guys are friends and he's trying to make you guys more than that, i think its perfectly acceptable. otherwise, i have to say no, then it is not socially acceptable.
