I know guys, I know. Don't tell me because I already know. But I thought she was 17, she thought I was 18 (I do look really young).

So the story? I work in a shop, its like the only one in this small town. She comes in often, always smiling at me, and not just a friendly one I mean I serve customers, I know the difference. I got to talk with her though outside of work, she got all shy and stuff, wanting to know why I wanted to know how old she was. I told her "Because I might of asked you out otherwise". She was just as surprised to know my age as I was hers. Seen her later that day down the road and she waved at me.

I mean I just find her cute, she has this honesty about her thats nice. Some girls around my age are just walking baggage that either drink or into the whole 'hook-up culture'. And maybe because I'm a little immature in some ways emotionally, like I'm still at the point of wanting a nice meaningful relationship.

She isn't like that, it's not her scene, she works on a farm (which is why I thought she was older) and rides horses and shit.

And besides, it feels nice to have someone like you, so I don't know what to do really. I know in the UK the legal age is 16, but it's not like I'm trying to score with her. It feels like I must walk away lest I be judged by everyone. Or fuck everyone and write her cute messages on her receipt now and then.

    Umm, stick with the cute NON SEXUAL messages for AT LEAST the next two years. Chances are nothing will ever come of the situation (because 2 years for a young teen is like a lifetime), but it's better than being a man-bitch to some large hairy murderer in prison for the next 5 years.

        Once she reaches the age of consent, legally the OP can have sex with her 24/7 if they want. I can't see how having a non-sexual relationship with her now is grooming her for later - when the later is when it is legal.

        Am I grooming a 30 year old woman by being her friend first before I end up taking her to bed? Was I grooming my own children by discussing assorted topics (including sex I might add) with them before they were adults?

        I think your views on "grooming" are a little extreme, but, as usual, you are entitled to them.

          If a grown man meets a 14 year old child and keeps in touch with her for two years with the intention of havibg sex with her i think thats different from teaching your children about sex.

    I think that emotionally you should show her you care about her, and make her laugh occasionally, make her day, be a strong support/pillar and make her comfortable around you so she can freely open up and trust you, maybe ask you for advice, that kind of thing. Just be there for her whenever she wants your company, but it's a fine and subtle line between being the role of a friend/older brother and being something more. Of course you should be careful from a legal point of view to even attempt anything physically, but emotionally, mentally, and psychologically she seems sweet and nice and it would be a missed opportunity to not pursue her in some way, to make her a part of your life at least for the time being, even as just a guy she knows that will be sensitive and actually listen to her.

    It's normal for her to like you but not for you to like her, you can be her friend but Nothing more, until she's 18, but even then it's a little strange , one time I was dating a girl who lied about her age, she said 14, almost 15, I was 16, I found out she was 13, I broke up with her

    It doesn't seem abnormal to me, girls can be beyond their age and given she doesn't look too young mutual feelings are normal. Just avoid getting in trouble though. If you can aspire her to be herself and not like clones of the rest (though she'll be who she wants to be), May be she will fall for you when she is 16..hehe!!

    Stay friends with her and don't make any moves until she is of legal age, i don't see what the problem is with waiting, you don't seem like the kinda guy whos quick to bed hop anyways. Once a friendship is grown by the time she's 18 and your both ready the moment will be alot more special 14 is much too young, to be doing anything like that, she isn't emotionally ready for that and i don't think orange is your color...
