Sleep deprivation...

Try to bear with me on this, it takes a bit of explanation.

So this weekend my sleep schedule got entirely screwed up to the point where I woke up at 4 in the afternoon on Sunday and then didn't go to sleep that night and am now at work Monday morning.

I have noticed whenever a situation like this occurs (long periods of time without sleep, especially overnight), my reflexes get spastic in that I jump at absolutely everything, even things that are completely motionless. Also, my vision seems clearer and my hearing more acute.

I think that possibly this an instinctual reaction back from when humans still had to protect themselves from being hunted as long hours awake would be likely in the situation.

So the question finally is, do you think that idea has any merit to it or am I simply off my rocker?

I don't think you're crazy. Lack of sleep can cause allot of health issues. It's not good to do this all the time so, try to make sure that you can get your 8 hours of sleep in.

I agree with this, but in a sort of contradictory way. Yes, lack of sleep seems to make me twitchy, but it also lowers my reaction time.

i dont think you are of you rocker, perhaps you have another side to your self, i am unsure about the sleep thing. i have noticed that people are become mor intouch with them selves latley. as if hidden aspects of the world are waking up. as in the things that no one belives in. my point is that if you think there is merit to it then there most likley is, cause your subconssiousness is reveling your true self it sounds like. more evolved more aware and what not. perhaps lack of sleep triggered your higher awarerness
