I can't fall asleep to music. It only ever happened once, in a tent at a festival. Then someone fell on my tent and demolished it. She was drunk and couldn't get up again and I was naked in my sleeping bag and couldn't really help much (or stand up myself). If you've ever tried to stand up without getting out of a sleeping bag, you'll understand. After the commotion, I couldn't get back to sleep.

I have to have silence to fall asleep most of the time. Only sound allowed is the fan. I will of course fall asleep with some noise but not be able to stay asleep. It seems to me that the deeper I fall into sleep, the louder sounds get and it wakes me up.

I have tried. I rest, but I don't really sleep. The earbuds are uncomfortable for me too, because I tend to sleep on my side. Headphones also won't work for the same reason.

Music keeps me awake if it's something I could sing along to or something that keeps my mind occupied with it. I like some background noise, but it's usually non-music radio rather that music.

I'm ADHD and a musician. This is the most difficult thing in the world for me to do!

It depends on which music genre I'm listening. I easily fall asleep with jazz and blues because of the beautiful lyrics and relaxing mood. If I listen to heavy metal, of course it's going to be hard to sleep...

It depends, but some music does make me sleepy if I'm in the car. On the other hand, I go to sleep without music. I could try, but that would result in me having insomnia:/

Most music will not put me to sleep. But some will put me in a trance state which is almost like sleeping.

Depends on the music type. Jazz music for example will lower your brain's activity, thus making it easier for you to fall asleep.

I can sleep to a TV. When I am completely alone in my apartment and it is dark, I have to have the TV on in order to feel comfortable enough to fall asleep. But music doesn't do much for me at all.

I used to be. I used to have to turn the radeo on to go to sleep at night. But then it kept busting up my CD players so I stopped. For reason, rock music puts me to sleep.

Sometimes it helps and sometimes it stops me from going to sleep. I usually go to sleep without music because I just like having everything turned off and for me to just sleep. That last part of the sentence was my terrible attempt to describe why I prefer to not have music, but I really can't word it properly. Hmm. It's kind of like I just want my body to be isolated and just my body, no extra stuff getting in the way. Ugh, that description was just as terrible as the first:P.

Also, I usually get absorbed by the music I'm listening to and that can make it difficult for my brain to switch off because it's too busy focusing on the song and thinking about it.

Usually when I fall asleep to music it isn't really deliberate, although I can usually tell when I'm drifting off. It doesn't tend to work when I'm *trying* to drift off, though. I wouldn't want to have to listen to music to get to sleep either, like become dependent on it or something like that.
