It's a really good question. When the rights of group A become disproportionate to the rights of group B, things begin to bend out of shape. Weird thing is, the people with the rights never consider they could just as equally be the people without the rights. They take their position as sacrosanct. Some people feel immune; people like white males.

I do not think it is alright to take people's rights away. Slavery still exists in this world but I believe it should not.

I would comment (other than this one), but I don't feel like fighting all the hate it would attract.

Children are basically still slaves. We even use the same word, emancipation, for when they're freed.

I think so, but in what time scale? A decade? Probably not. A hundred years? Again, I doubt it. Thousands of years? Now that's more possible. We can't predict how the world will change in such a great amount of time as a few thousand years. In a million years? At some point in the next million years, it would be a statistical improbability for slavery not to have been made legal in some part of the world.

In one thousand years, there will be no "America", there will be no "Europe", there will be no system of government that we would recognise today, there will be no technology the same as that which we have today. There will be no language bearing a notable resemblance to any language today. Anything could happen in a thousand years, and slavery would most certainly not be out of the question.

But what part of the world? Everywhere? In a large country? On one tiny island? Who knows? Anybody who can give me an educated guess about the distant future of humanity anywhere in the world deserves a hell of a lot of credit.

    How about sexy men? ;D

No, but on a serious level, I don't think slavery (like it was for blacks in America) would happen again, nor do I think it would be easy. I mean, with the society and lifestyles that we have evolved to today, I think that the government will have a REALLY difficult time trying to enslave someone.
