Sitting still while listening to music?

Is it normal to sit completely still while listening to music? Almost everyone I know has to dance around, bob their head, or tap their hands or something, but whenever I listen to music I just sit there and stare off into space with a blank face (unless the song is funny). Even if it's a really intense heavy metal or techno song, I just sit there like a brick. I think it might be because I get really into the song and feel like I can't pay full attention to it any other way, but I feel like I look weird doing it.

It depends on the type of music, for me. If it's something without a strong beat or simple rhythm; like a deep, rich soundscape; I usually don't move, but if it has a strong beat or it's very energetic sometimes I can hardly help but tap my feet or fingers or nod my head or mouth some words. I even tap my feet and fingers to music in my head sometimes. I think it's normal to stay still, I just can't stay still to everything :P I think it's just a different way of appreciating music.

    You're so different from me.

I find it hard to keep still as I listen to music.
When I do, I like to run/dance around for hours
until I get too tired. My feet are usually sore by then.

But, no. It's not weird at all.
We all have our little quirks and differences.
Sometimes, I wish I was like you!

    I do this sometimes. Other times I'm full out head-bobbin, feet-stompin, finger-tappin, body-shaking goodness!

Some music just makes you(and by "you" I really mean "me") want to move :)

Oh yeah, and arm-flailing. How could I forget arm-flailing...

Watch out with the arm-flailing, I don't want an elbow in the eye. :P

Yes. You can't fully appreciate good music if you don't sit back and relax.

  • I'm the same exact way, I could never jump around and thrash about while listening to music, it just feels unnatural and awkward to me. I sit still and just zone out while listening to tunes.

  • It is very normal to sit completely still while listening to music.

I only like music that you can't dance to.

Sometimes I'll listen to specific types of music to do just that. Calm, peaceful music that helps me meditate is very relaxing.

I sit totally still when I'm listening to metal or rock, usually, but I just can't help moving when I'm listening to classical or something without a pronounced beat.

It's interesting to see peoples' preferences. I know someone who moves more if they don't like the way it's played, regardless of the music, and not at all if they do like it.

Vibration makes waves of sound and sometimes becomes music.

I usually lay down and listen to music but I have to move my fingers or toes to the song
