Singe taxed double taxed triple taxed

We all get our weekly paychecks and happily accept our checks even though an approximate 25%% is taken for taxes before we even get to cash it.

Ok so we got our cash, already taxed from lets say 500 bucks to maybe 379 or so, we cash our check and maybe put some in the bank.

Next we go to buy Groceries, ok so we take that already taxed cash and buy food, which is then again taxed for the second time.
That's usually about 6%% to 8%%.
So now were up to a 31%% tax on our hard earned money.
Ok now we have to pay Bills, OMG and these are taxed too, phones are the worst, stealing another 20 to 23 percent of our already double taxed hard earned cash.
Don't forget, you have to buy some leisure now, go to a movie, enjoy some put put, but some beer, cigarettes, whatever you do, you are now facing even steeper taxation, now really, does this seem normal to you?

  • I'm taking a tax class to prepare taxes in Salem, Oregon and it's not nearly as bad as you all are saying it is. I honestly think it is fair but I am pissed off as all hell at Republicans and all their stupid wars with countries we really shouldn't give two shits about.
    ----------------------
I'm currently pretty poor but I honestly agree with it. Those who make more NEED to pay more. For all those who claim that taxes aren't needed or that they are evil, they are probably the same people who think police in general are nothing but satanist and health care isn't needed for the disabled.

Your tax bracket is determined by how much you make and if you just work a simple job and just make it by, your tax bracket could be in the 15%% range. Sure, we have Medicare (I, for the life of me, do not know WHY we pay for medical that WE CAN'T FUCKING USE but I pay it anyways.) and Social Security but those are for the people who truly need it and eventually, ALL OF US WILL NEED ONE OF THESE IF WE LIVE LONG ENOUGH.

Don't get me wrong, the tax code is extremely overwritten and I think Sales Tax is an absolute stupid idea (I live in Oregon where we don't have one.) but it pays for all the things we truly need like a fire department, schools for our kids, 'law enforcement', and so on. It would truly suck if my house caught fire and I just watch it burn to the ground because we don't have a fire department or some dickhole breaks into my house and nobody out there will "save" me from him or save him from me when I catch him.

We need all the functions of government and we need taxes. However, I rambled on and on, if you have a tax question, write and I will come back and answer it.

im my country... say you earn 4000 (EUROS) a month 52%% of it goes to taxxes so u only get like 1920 euros ... say you put aside 150 euro each month soon as it reaches a certain amount you start to pay taxxes over the money you saved that they allready took 52%% from ... cigarettes and gasoline is taxxed 83%% ;) you pay taxxes for the roads... unsurances for your car / health but when something bad happends and you let the insurance company pay you you start paying more each month as well

What I really don't get about the American tax system is how you don't add the tax on to items, the tax is added on after. So I see an item advertised for say $5, I go to buy it but I don't pay $5, I pay $5.20 or whatever, plus a tip sometimes too. That annoys then hell out of me, and is just one of the reason why your country strikes me as being particularly retarded.

    • Oregon has no sales tax but I understand what you mean. It would more piss me off to KNOW I was paying for tax on EACH PURCHASE I make instead of just paying extra property tax. Do I need to ruin my hamburger experience because I need to go to yet another ATM for that extra 45 cents because I forgot to add the sales tax before I ordered my combo meal with my left over change.

Welcome to being a republican!! Feels good doesnt it? Now...to elaborate...put yourself in the highest tax bracket...upwards of 35%%-37%% BEFORE you go to cash it...and then you owe all the taxes from food, ect like you said. And you owe more come jan, april, ect...so making 100k a year...really is like making 50. Fair? No, but the democrates (Socialists...Yea, i said it.) want more government programs and regulations. Its their country too i guess...But a flat tax system just makes more since...or a slightly gradiated one. 10-15%% or hell, even 15-20 i could live with. But for arguments sake lets say there is a flat tax rate of 10%%

Guy A makes 500,000 a year before taxes and guy B makes 40,000 before taxes.
Guy A pays 50,000 in taxes where as guy B only pays 4,000...by virtue of making more, he pays more. Its fair. Point = Taxes suck and then you die.

Side not though...while we are on the topic...Obama, in all of his infinate wisdom just spent 260 Million on cars for government employees and then asked taxpayers to back an enormous multi-billion dollar "Stimulous"...Best part? well, there are two. Its exatially what democrates cryed about bush doing. AND the highest tax bracket doesnt get it. nope. Insted, they get to PAY more for it to go to everyone else!!!

Socialism...its communism with elected officials and the illusion of free market.

Republicans work hard so the rest of you dont have to.

First of all flat taxes are the worst idea ever, just think of someone who makes a 10k-20k a year job. Taking 10%% of that would be awful. By the way, do you know how important socialism is to the stability of not only the economy, but also the way society runs. If there were no taxes, who would pay for the criminal justice system? Who would pay for everything that protects us like the police or firemen? Regulations are there for protection in the economy to prevent this bubble then bust cycle that occurred under this deregulated market. How do contracts get enforced if there is no socialism? Who will pay for the military? Who will pay for public infrastructure? Taxes, while not fun to pay, have a significant and positive impact when used on appropriate things. BTW, Democrats were angry at Bush's astronomical spending because it was mostly focused on a war that we should have not started. While the Stimulus package has a lot of pork, it is designed to spend the money in a more effective way. You can never know how hard it is to be poor and how hard it is to get out of poverty unless you've truly experienced it. Living in poverty is incredibly difficult unless the government steps in and helps them get back on their feet.

        • 10%% of 10k, NOPE, your wrong there.

In the United States, you have your standard deduction plus filing status and both of those will make it so you don't pay tax or if you do, it's extremely little and probably for the state you live in.

And if you are in that area, there is both the Earned Income Tax Credit and Child Tax Credit which you will probably be able to get and in the end, you could get BACK several thousands instead of oweing at the end of the year.

Yes, it sucks ass to pay taxes but after your taxes are returned after tax season, aren't you glad for the big check. Also, if you are bitching about getting that money now, file for Advanced Earned Income Credit and get that money each week instead of the end of the year.
