I believe whats the point of a relationship if you cant lay your full trust in them even if that puts you at risk for being fooled. What do you think?

Falling in love completely is just like taking a major risk.. Trust is important but you can't control betrayal, no guarantee that someone wont break your trust .. I think it's just a matter of trusting blindly,hoping and having faith that things will work out.
For a relationship I think trust is a must have. But you said "lover" so... that makes the question a little more difficult. For casual sex I would only need to trust them to a certain level I wouldn't need to care about them being irresponsible and gambling away the rent or any number of other factors I would be concerned about in a relationship.
I wouldn't stay in a relationship with someone I didn't trust. I wouldn't start a relationship with someone I didn't trust, really.
Edit: actually, I could be in a relationship with someone if they broke my trust but genuinely wanted to rebuild it.
The way their previous relationships ended should tell you a lot about whether or not they should be trusted.
