Should woman have to register for the draft?

This is mostly relevant to the US, since it's currently being talked about here, but I suppose it applies to any country with any kind of real or theoretical compulsory military service.

For those who don't know, in the US failure to register is a felony punishable by 5 years in prison and a quarter-million dollar fine... In theory. No one has been prosecuted for it 30 years. But men actually are punished by denying them various federal services, most notably student loans and access to certain federal jobs.

Everyone should have to register. 45
No one should have to register. 40
Only women should have to register. 4
Only men should have to register. 7

No one should have to. It just goes to show that there is an underlying element of government control. You're free until they decide it's not practical for you to be free anymore.

We have so much technology now that I don't think the extra man power would be of as much help. I think the future of combat is headed to machines, cyberspace, and unmanned vehicles.

Why do we have to register for something that hasn't been used in decades? Plus we all have SS numbers etc. They know we exist. The whole thing seems silly. Granted, I did do it.

They can be medics but they can't join the Marines they'd just bring the entire platoon down because they're not as strong as a man.

      • Might not be as strong but if a draft is needed the numbers would be needed. They're not as strong as men but that doesn't mean they're not strong enough to fire a weapon.

They aren't strong enough to work side by side with men. They'll fall behind and the stronger infantry units will have to pick up the slack and that's a moral killer.

In all honesty if women want to join the Marines that's fine by me but they will be required to pass the same standards a man does and she will therefore be required to inject testosterone supplements on a regular basis to be equal to that of a man more power to her...

ItDuz woman aren't equal to men nor should they be on the front line fighting wars man created.

          • You're missing the point. If we need a draft then we need people that can simply hold a gun and fire. Sure, they're not as strong as men which would mean they wouldnt be able to do certain things in the military but neither would a lot of men that would be drafted which is why such people are just strapped with a gun and fire.

They don't have to be as capable of something to be useful. Again, if there's a draft it means it's a numbers game. A woman can hold a gun and fire it. Sure, a lot of women can't make the standard of being in the military but the same goes for a lot of men who would also be drafted.

In my country we also have the draft for men. If it were up to me I'd get rid of the whole damn thing. But a draft for everybody would at least be a step towards equality.

If men have the obligation to sign up to fight and kill, women have the obligation to sign up to fuck and give birth. In this way there will be a never ending supply of people for combat.

Read your history books. Barbarianism was the best of times. Just ask Atilla the Hun.

I bet it was a great time for Atilla. Don't know about everyone else ...

Feminists are always bitching about equal rights. I don't feel that they should be on the front line, but they could help out in a support role. If they voluntarily want to fight, don't dumb down the standards just so they can qualify. Any female that wants to fight and qualifies, would be one tough chick!

Do you think they should sign up so they can give blowjobs in the foxholes? That would probably help morale out a whole lot...

    Yeah, sure. Why not?

I would have gladly registered for the draft when I was young. What's the big deal?

Then why didn't you join on your own? It would be nice to have a woman around to have sex wit. It steadies your aim when shooting.

I don't think so, I'd kill you before you laid a hand me. You see I'd have to give consent, and I have no intention of ever giving consent to someone like you!

    • As far as I'm aware women can't even register if they want to, so I guess that would still be a (very small) step towards equality.
