Should we force medication on people at funerals?

Some people believe we should forcibly medicate anyone who has a death of someone close to them. While I know a person might get very depressed it usually doesn't last forever and they eventually come back to functioning normal.

Some people become so depressed that they can no longer go on without that person and well if one was arguing this case maybe.

However I don't think if someone is depressed for a few weeks after someone died that we should force them into meds. I had multiple deaths in my family and they never attempted to medicate me over being upset my family died.

We should medicate people right after a funeral takes place always 2
We should only do it if lasts too long and they cant function 20
We should let people deal with loss in their way and never medicate 21
Depression alone is not a disorder and we should not medicate ever 5
Other 4

Who are the people that believe this?

No-one should be medicated without consent, unless they're in danger and in such a state that they can't give consent.

This. Very much so. I find the idea of forcibly medicating people very disturbing.

        • A nurse told me this and when I said I didn't agree they told me I was ignorant.

No. That's insane. The only exception would be forcing meds on those who think forcing meds is a good idea. Euthanasia is some cases maybe.

Usually hospice care includes a follow up with the surviving widow/widower a few weeks after the death. They often send out literature pertaining to the grieving process and have groups for those having trouble. Medications may be necessary is some cases, but most people heal with support from family and friends.

    • I thought so too but the nurse says I am ignorant and things don't work this way.

Things did work this way for my family. I suppose the hospice services we used were better than most.
