Should the us invade syria?

Throughout history the United States has always been a very peaceful nation (as in not conquering like ancient Romans or Chinese, and not colonizing like French and British), but we do help other nations who are too weak to defend themselves, like Europe for instance in WW2, who would be speaking German if it wasn't for America, also China needed our help, but we have such a strong military we quickly dealt with the Japanese.
There are other strong nations like Russia and China but as communists they will only act if they get money or land in return, at least that's what I think.
And not long ago Libya was liberated from the dictator Gadaffi.
What do you think?
The US certainly has the power to take the over the whole world, why not help one small poor country?
Should the US invade Syria as and free the people there from these dictators?

Invade Syria. 17
Make Europe do something for once. 18
Not invade. 53
Help us keep this site organized and clean. Thanks!

As for ww2 the only reason you joined was cos the japs bomed Pearl harbour!! the only way you helped then was you made the war not last long as it would have done, also I see you didnt mention Vietnam or Afghanistan as they where defferantly losses!!!

As for your statement "There are other strong nations like Russia and China but as communists they will only act if they get money or land in return, at least that's what I think." wasnt Afghanitan all about the oil in which case what does that make the usa?

As for Libya I do believe the French and English did most of that with the usa in the back ground because they didnt want another Afghanistan.

Dont invaid Syria let them sort it out,why dont you sort out your own country before dictating how the rest of the world should live, after all you say your freeing people from dictators but in doing that you are becoming the dictators!!!

Couldn't agree more. As a culture, I think you were very peaceable for thousands for years. It just went a bit wrong when Europeans invaded.

I don't even remember the last native to be President. :/

I really really like your answer.

To the Trollop: How about taking care of your own problems for once instead of diverting attention away towards outside wars/conflicts/terrorists/blablabla?

You would help the worlds population a LOT more if you finally got up and e.g. reduced your industrial emissions (ever heard of the kyoto protocol? thought so.)
As for the "invasion"-stuff, i'm with the monroe-doctrine on that one :P)

Oh boy are you wrong. The US never helps other countries unless we get something back in return. The US entered WW2 at the end. We fought after pearl harbor. We did it for ourselves.
We got into the Vietnam war because of Russia. Russia didn't even send troops just weapons. We didn't even win.
We helped the Balkans by bombing civilians. Because it's faster to win a war when you attack civilians.
The US intervention in Libya was because Libya's location had military strategy. This intervention was also a colossal "Fuck You" to the constitution which stated that the US could not go to war without consent of the house.

Is Syria in deep shit? Yes. And people are constantly asking why no one is helping Syria. It's because Syria has nothing of value to the outside.

I'm not going to be a dick and say the US is the only one like this. No country helps another country without expecting something in return.

Britain helped France in WWII, what did they want in return? I'm not being funny - it's a serious question, ok?
However,it does seem that the US only intervenes when there is something of strategic interest. Helping an oppressed nation for financial gain isn't really what you would call being charitable or defending moral rights for the sake of moral rights, imho

Assuming that you aren't a troll, I think the US should focus on its domestic issues at this point right now, instead of "helping" Middle Eastern countries that clearly don't seem interested in our "help".

Besides, the US didn't officially enter WW2 until the Japanese attacked Pearl Harbor. And we didn't "quickly" deal with the Japanese, we fought with them as long as we did the Germans, our main attention was just the Germans. The only reason that we "quickly" defeated the Japanese after we defeated the Germans wasn't because of military strength- it was because we had atomic weapons. If we didn't have the two atomic bombs, you can bet that fighting the Japanese would have taken a lot longer, and the US casualities would have drastically increased.

  • No, they should pull out from every freaking country they are invading and let them kill themselves. We have plenty to worry about in this country to take over some else's problems...

  • ha ha pull the other one the United States has always been a very peaceful nation (as in not conquering like ancient Romans or Chinese, and not colonizing like French and British), but we do help other nations who are too weak to defend themselves, the United States done their share of colonising also you do not get from 13 colonies to 50 states, 1 federal capital, and overseas territories, by not colonising, buying land or being granted it. the United States has always had their
superior complex and think they are better than everywhere else and any thing they do not like they set it aside, but i guess you can keep telling yourself what ever lets you sleep at night. the USA Should keep their nose out of other countries AND let the country sort out its own affairs even if they kill each other its still their business.

And just casually waste a couple thousand American soldiers for the sake of the freedom of a country that either hates us now or will hate us 20 years from now, or be unlikely to sustain it's own democracy? No thanks.
