Should the age of consent be 16 or 21?

Definitely 16. 21 is just wayyy too extreme. Everyone would be going to jail for no reason. As if there aren't enough men on the sex offender list for having consensual sex with their underage girlfriends.

I find current age of consent laws to be adequate. Around 16 years of age is when you become mature enough to decide about sex.

Well, it's already 16 in Australia, but is that too young to be having sex? Or are people mature enough to have sex at 16? It's an on going debate.

So you are saying 18 should not be an adult anymore? I really do not think that is fair. Why should you have to be 21 to be an adult? So you can enter the services but you are not legally an adult? How does that work? Why can we not leave it 18?

The law is not enforced to stop people who are 15 from fucking eachother, it's there so that creepy old pedos that touch kids under a certain age go to jail. So I would say 21. Because I know why it's really there. Maybe it's just where I come from, but police don't barge in your room and make sure you're not screwing because you're under legal age. People don't go to jail around here for having sex either.. at any age. Pedo's however, do. That way they can't say "It was consensual! Maybe I am 60 and he/she is 15! But they wanted to." And the law can't be like, uh huh. Tell that story in COURT.

I don't know why people think you have to be mature to have sex. We're put on this earth to be horny at like 13 years old. We're going to bone, not because we're "mature" but because we're horny little fuckers. Having sex is hardly a muture decision. In most cases anyways. Most mature thing about it is that it results in more babys that are just going to grow up and have sex like we did and have more babys.

It's 16 here in the UK, and I think that's about the right age. I'd keep it at 16 if it was against 18, never mind 21.

It is only 14 where I live so I guess even 16 would be an improvement.
