Should i tell boss i'll be quitting?

I am up for a promotion at a grocery store. I told them i wanted it a few months ago.
Now they bitch, encourage, and simply remind me to do better daily. There's a modest pay increase plus a few more hours.
Recently, a new job has presented itself. No need for much detail, it's a lot more hours and much bigger hourly rate. I'll have the job in the near future, for sure.
But do i mention to my current employers that i have no intention of staying there even though they're training me for promotion, or would that just increase tension between us?

Just give two-week notice. 27

To establish a good work history you need to stay at your current job until your new job is secure. Then you give your 2 weeks notice. In the future, if you apply for a different job they may want to contact past employers to establish your dependability. A history of just leaving jobs looks unreliable.

Also, at your current job you do not owe them any explanation about your future plans for a new job (unless their family, I guess). An employer will have no problem laying your off for any number of reasons despite any promises they have made to you about a promotion.

Take advantage of any free training you get, it can only help you develop more job skills.

Why burn that bridge? You may want him as a reference sometime in the future. Even if you don't, it's kind of a dick move to not give them the courtesy of a notice.

Tell them you have an offer from another higher paying job and you might transfer. When you go to a new job they usually ask for previous bosses review.

Always give two weeks notice, otherwise it will look very bad to any future employer, and might even be a deal breaker.

First you need to sexually harass your boss ( doesn't matter if its a male or female) Once you have sex with them you can blackmail into paying you like $9.00 an hr) If you work there for 20 yrs you'll be a millionaire. Than you can retire and live on a tropical island like Cuba or North Korea. Do it dude

    • Also, i think you're math is wrong. Even if my pay was increased by 9 more/ hour wouldn't be a million. Even before taxes

Employment references are quite important in my part of the world. Even though I have had negative feelings about a position I always leave diplomatically to ensure I get a good job reference.
