Should i stop pursuing a younger man?

I'm 10 years older than him. He's 25, I'm 35. He's highly mature for his age and raised his family himself (his father wasn't in the picture). He acts more like 45 then 25 and he makes me happy but the one thing that bothers me is the age gap. I normally only date within a few years younger or older but 10 years is a gigantic gap to me.

It's just a shame because i really like him and we're good friends. We hang out together and have a good time. He's never tried to ask me out at all nor have I despite really wanting to. He also asked me what kids names I like but then also tells me he hopes he can find the right woman some day.

We've been friends for 6 months now. I don't know how to tell if he is even interested in me like that.

    It sounds like at some point you set some definite rules on who you would allow yourself to become involved with. Frankly, that's pretty stupid.

    Some guys your age have the mentality of an eighteen year-old. Would you consider dating a guy like that just because he had the right year on his birth certificate?

    There are valid reasons to be concerned about age-gaps, but it seems to me that at your age and his, ten years really isn't a big deal. It would become less and less of an issue if you should happen to stick with him long-term.

    My wife is ten years younger than me, and we met when she was 40 and I was 50. Our age difference has never been a problem for us.

    If he really is as emotionally mature as you say and if you truly are close friends, what's stopping you from asking him how he would feel about dating a woman a decade older than him?

      It's funny you say that. The last guy I dated for 3 months was 4 years older than me yet acted like a teenager. This new yet younger guy is far more mature.

      Maybe you're right about it being stupid to limit myself based on a number.

    There is nothing wrong with that.. if he likes you knowing you are 10yrs. older than him well there is nothing wrong with that as long as you both are inlove. Just be happy!
