Maybe you could sneakily/slyly find out more about his liking for little girls, to see if it sinister or not. Then take things from there.

Ahh I dunno , don't think that'd be as unusual as people think. Would've been normal a few hundred yrs ago, still is in some countries. But we're told what we can and can't like , should and shouldn't like,think, what's politically correct and there's numbers and laws on f'n everything so your just not gonna hear about things publicly but what's really in peoples heads is a different ball game altogether .
Anyway , a friend is a friend to me and unless they're hurting anyone I'd be like whatever.

Be sure you fully understand what he means. I love little kids too, but not in a sick way, and in general little girls are much nicer and cleaner then little boys, they will rarely throw your stuff out of the third floor window when you're not looking. On the other hand, once they grow into their teens, I just want to strangle them.

I love little girls, I suppose you could say in a sexual way. But I'm not going to act on it what harm can it cause? Some people think differently, if he needs to go to therapy, so be it, just don't judge him for who or what he is attracted to.

The thing about older people who likes children in "that" way is that the children gets scarred for life since they're not supposed to be doing those kind of things. If your friend wants to keep up.... whatever he's doing I wouldn't care as long as he doesn't change peoples lives in a negative way. I also feel a bit sorry for those kind of individuals who are tormented by this need, since nothing about it is neither accepted nor good for the people who gets involved. I'd say as long as he is who he is in a harmless way, it's not too big of a problem.
Maybe he's been through something he hasn't told you about that triggered this... Talk to him about it.
I'm also going to say it: pedophiles are actually people too, no matter how lowly modern society thinks about them.

I think you should discuss the matter with him further. If he loves them the way people love the smell of rain then alls well and good. If he meant it in a sexual way then as his friend it is your duty to get him to see he needs to get help before he does something wrong.

Unfriending him isn't going to help anyone.

It's not fair to assume he meant anything bad by it. Some men really like children, not in any sexual way. Just ask what he meant.

Talk to him about it more, maybe he has little cousins or nieces, and he doesn't mean it in a weird way. Just ask him about it , and see what he meant.
