Should i just ditch faceook? >:(

I dont know why but I want facebook, but I dont want facebook. I sorta am having trouble liking myself too.... and facebook doesnt help me at all. And I sorta like posting pictures and sharing pictures of like/interest though.. I have alternatives obviously.. but i guess im just making excuses.

Why do you not like facebook? And When did you ditch it, IF you did?? just curious ;)

Whenever I log into Facebook, it's full of:
    - people re-posting unoriginal quotes/pictures they found online
    - idiots bitching about each other or threatening each other with empty threats via Facebook status
    - people posting pictures of what they ate, bought, or what makeup/outfit they are wearing
-people posting 100 pictures of their kids/pets and then they get all pissy when no one comments on said photos and
    - people that preach religious stuff only to turn around and do the exact thing they claim is evil.

I'm thinking about ditching it, but the only reason I stay is because my sister makes certain parts of that crappy site enjoyable.

I hate social media and I am never going to join it. What is really annoying, according to Facebook users I know (IRL), is people posting status updates to do with their shitty relationships.

I go onto my facebook at most once a month.

Wanna know what the most annoying thing is on facebook? Even more annoying than the people who post those stupid, unoriginal quotes?
    The people with newborns :|
Now that's just a species on their own. 2 million photos everyday about the same stupid kid. It goes on for months.

I ditched FB at registration. They were asking for too much damn information! And even though I am attractive, I hate taking out photos and posting them. If I did have FB my family would stalk me all the time and I don't go on social media to interact with family that way.

yeah you should...only a wast of time. and how old are you. facebook is for people in there teens. if you are an adult... i mean over 18, then you should really stop.

I don't think I would ever 'ditch' facebook, I have taken breaks in the past where I deactivate my facebook for about a month or so when I'm having a hard time and being online just makes it worse. It was mostly caused by toxic friendships though which I've ended by now. The website itself isn't what's crappy, that would be contributed by whoever your facebook friends are.

I quit Facebook after 9 years and I felt like my own self again. Facebook is strangely poison. I don't miss it.

So you have been on facebook for 9 years, and you quit and you feel Yourself again? I keep deleting it and reactivating it before it is completely deleted?! which takes 14 days, and i know why.. they want you to get the urge to come back ugh

Yeah, it felt weird at first..but then it felt like all the time I spent looking at people I didn't know very well or anymore and worrying about what people think of me that I don't even see...it went away.
It felt like I was a kid and I only knew the people I knew in the context of my life and I went to parties to be at them...not to take pictures and report back to Facebook. I don't worry about "likes" anymore and I don't have to see my friends make asses of themselves fighting over politics and relgion on my homepage. :-P

I have a twitter account for no other purpose than to be able to post a comment, to a news topic on a website that provides no other alternative and to which I will not likely return with any regularity.

I don't tweet and everything that arrives there or in my email from there gets deleted in wholesale fashion.

I'm here right now, this is me being social. I find a lot of social media behavior to be vainglorious.

    Just hide/unfriend stupid people.
You can hide a persons posts if they are annoying to you . I'm constantly deleting friends myself but yeah, I have noticed that it can have a negative impact on your mental health too.

Maybe you just need to readjust your expectations of it.

It's a great tool for keeping in contact with people who otherwise would have disappeared out of your life. I mean, people can change their phone number and their address a hundred times, but most will keep their original facebook account.

And it's good for sharing pictures, videos etc.

If it's making you feel bad about yourself, change it, or change how you use it. You can customise your profile and newsfeed pretty heavily now. You could strip it down to the bare minimum and have it there simply as an online point of contact for old friends, leaving it be unless you happen to get a message from someone.

your right, It is a great tool for such uses.. But I have kik, which I talk to most people on, and skype. and I sorta dislike social necessities.... i prefer talking on the phone, or skype video chat. I am not very social most of the time. And I could care a less what my old friends are doing, if I wanted them in my life I would have never stopped talking to them....

Hey, if you have other ways of doing the same thing that you prefer, fair enough.

For me, I just have Facebook. I don't like Twitter, never use Kik, rarely use Skype, haven't touched Snapchat, not interested in Instagram, Google+, Tumblr, Pinterest or anything else really.

Most of my friends and family use FB (no one I know uses Kik), so it's ideal for me. Plus I have a lot of friends who have moved away, who I do want to keep in contact with.

Ditch FB if you don't want or need it :)
