Should i give my online friend my cellphone number?

So, I've been good buddies with my online friend for a little over a month... we're both eighteen, live on the same coast, but live in different states. We've given each other our emails and pictures, and we've gotten pretty close...

So, I've been thinking about asking her if she wanted to exchange cellphone numbers. She hasn't brought it up yet, but if she does (Or if I do eventually), I wouldn't know exactly what to say... part of me would like to exchange phone numbers, however, I've never given any of my online friends my phone number before- she's the first one I've ever considered giving my number.

I'm very confused about what I should do... : /

I'd wait longer, maybe go on cam with each other, see if the person is really who they say they are. You gotta be careful with online friends.

NO!! You have no idea who she actually is... It doesnt take much to create an e-mail and copy anpicture from google... Its not safe but if you want to risk it dont complain... Your old enough to know about safety online.... :/

If you're okay with hearing my gruff, heavy breathing and guttural moaning, then yes, why not?

Have to agree with liiaaa3 here. A cellphone number is perfectly fine, why not indeed.

No one can really stop you from giving it. If it's just that one guy then I suppose. Just don't go crazy with giving out your number. My twin and I share a phone and she's been giving our number online to pretty much any guy who asks for it. Now the phone is packed with text messages from creeps.

What's so different from giving her your number compared to someone you know in real life? It shouldn't really matter. A TON of my online friends had my phone number and we talked a lot. It's not a big step. Just as long as they're not crazy, it should be fine.

Even if they are, I've dealt with stalkers via cell phone. It's called blocking them. Someone called me at 3am all the time and left blank voicemails recently. Even text me a few times saying some bull trying to get me and my bf riled up. I dubbed them a troll and figured it was some kid I wasn't too fond of online who got a hold of my cell number and was trying to get my attention. They also made a fake FB page of me that I reported and was removed by FB. But it didn't bother me. I have been stalker free for almost a month now. :)

But it's not like they can get your personal information through a cell phone unless they know cops or something, right?

...Well, I'm pretty sure not everyone is willing to deal with stalkers via cellphone :/

I'd rather exchange numbers than pics. Someone can do worse things with your pic than they can phone number. Seeing as you've swapped pics, why not numbers?

And I agree with dom180, as usual. A phone number is just a phone number. The worst they can do is ring you incessantly. Even then, you can block them.

I'd actually type my phone number in this post. I don't see how it's any different from email.

At least that way you can be 100% sure that this person is who she is. if a fourty+ guy picks up the phone and he doesnt use the words 'i'll just get her' straight away hang up.
