Should i become a french citizen and stop living in america?

I want to go to a french school for music and wish to eventually spend the rest of my life as a french citizen. I really have no desire to live in america anymore and just want to get a general idea about whether to move to france or not. I do speak french very well...

You should get going as soon as possible. I'm sure the very tolerant French will welcome you with open arms. Let us know how it turns out.

Yes, of course, everyone knows the French love foreigners, especially Americans.

I lived with a cousin for a summer in 11 th grade in Brittany and they hated the Parisians lol. Brittany is quaint and they love flaky pastries and lace making.

Indeed. Not sure that was a train that you needed to jump on, but hey, we all need our hobbies.

Maybe you should live in a frog tank, it's the same experience as living in France.

Can you actually speak any French? If you want this whole American ex patriot/Naturalized French Citizen thing you'd better learn the language like your life depends on it!

I went there ,England,Belgium and Italy for my honeymoon. Great scenery, food and music. Other tourists were fab.I lost eleven pounds riding a bike all over, but gained it all back in Italy.

Most of the French were the rudest, most judgemental bunch of crunchy assholes I have ever met, especially the waiters. We both grew up in N.Y. So were are not that thin skinned. Lucky us, the other countries were way more welcoming and fun.

The grass always looks greener on the other side of the border. Try it out for a few years before you give up your US citizenship.

You can maintain a dual citizenship as long as the US is on good terms with the country your moving to, you don't deliberately renounce your citizenship, and you file (but not pay) income taxes in the US.

It's a bit more complicated than that for US citizens, except in the case of Israel. There may be a big problem if the country you want dual citizenship in has a significant military.
