Should i ask her out?

I've been talking to this girl for about 7 months but I only started developing feelings for her about 6 months ago when her boyfriend broke up with her and I was kind of the one that was there to get her through the relationship. I was going to ask her out a couple days ago but I told my friend that I was going to ask her out and the girl I was going to ask out (Let's just say Emma) found out so a lot of people knew and my one friend asked me if I was going to ask her out and told me that she said she was afraid to say no to me. Which obviously means she was going to say no but that was around a lot of people so her opinion could have been morphed. I'm pretty sure I'm just trying to rationalize the faint chance that she might say yes. Should I just ask her so I'm positive she doesn't like me or should I not even plague myself?

    Big mouth. Why would you open your big mouth to your 'friend' and screw everything up? Now you have no idea whether she's going out with you because of peer pressure or she likes you.
    Don't you think it's about time you learned the meaning of the word 'personal' (dictionaries are wonderful things) and kept it in mind BEFORE you open your big mouth to someone who obviously wasn't even a real friend?

    If she's fine, and isn't a bimbo yes, if she is fine and is a bimbo yes. Give a thought of what u think a date with her would be like and if it goes along with good thoughts.

    You have nothing to lose by asking her out. You don't know how it will turn out until you try.

    Don't date people on the rebound, rule number one. Rule two never be a shoulder for a female to cry on about another man, you lose respect as a man. Rule three, never act like a wimp when dating women, be a man and go after what you want like a wolf on a rabbit. This goes right into rule four, never play with your food, wolves don't play with rabbits, they eat them.
