It all depends on how old he is

By the time I was 14 I had run away from two different homes, after my parents divorce, and had spent days by myself out on the road with nobody knowing where I was. I felt I was old enough and mature enough to do that just as safely as walking to the grocery store a half mile away for a candy bar.
Unfortunately we are all living on a battlefield in a war between good and evil and at any moment, regardless of our age or preparation, the enemy can attack or we can accidentally become collateral damage or even be hit by friendly fire.
Your son could be in just as much danger on such a trip at 20 as he is at 14.
Only you and your son can determine if it's safe for him to make this trip.

If no one can take him there and back home safely, then no. 14 is too young to be out of contact for that long. If they get hurt along the way no one would be there to help them.

No. The fact that you even asked this question goes to show that you shouldn't allow your 14 year old to walk alone. Show that you actaully care by getting him a ride from a responsible person. There's been too many examples of kids being taken for people to even ask questions like this. Amazing. People just never learn.

That has to be one of the stupidest questions I've seen on IIN. Do you think paedophiles and murderers advertise their movements in advance?

not as stupid as the op's question. how can strangers on the Internet answer that question without knowing anything about the situation?

Sorry, but your question is definitely stupider than hers

I wouldn't let my son do that. Too far and too many creeps out and about.

Oh yeah for sure, I had a friend in the next town over and at 13 I used to walk an hour and a half there and and hour and a half walk back, if anything it's good to get him used to exercise, just make sure he has his phone on him, also maybe something like a bike would be a good birthday\christmas gift if he doesn't like the walk, anither benefit would be that a shorter journey time might put your mind at rest

Its not the time its like 4 miles away I felt like saying an hour and a half would make it easier to get replies o. His side

i wouldnt but i might be over protective. i would be afraid my child would get snatched up. with that being said i would gladly walk my kid and or my bf would drive them.
