I was hanging out with two of my friends last night at my house. My friend told my best friend that he liked her and thought she was beautiful, graceful, and some other things. He then asked her out and she politely rejected him and asked if they can just be friends. He starts this angry rant about how he's a great guy and started insulting her.

I step in front of her to try to calm him down, but he just got madder. We somehow got into a fight, next thing I know, I'm on the floor, and he's chasing her. He punches her in the face twice and my dad comes out of nowhere and knocks him out with a shovel. The cops were called and he was taken to the hospital. My female friend refused medical service.

Was this normal? This was something I never expected him to do. He was always so calm and collected. He used to suffer from depression, but he was never violent before. I won't go near him ever again nor will I ever become friends with him again. I honestly wish my dad would have killed him with that shovel.

        Just because something isn't about race doesn't mean it's not intolerance and prejudice. If you were intelligent, as you seem intent on trying to be, you'd realize that as soon as you start referring to entire cultures, groups, countries, and so on then you're probably not saying something worth adopting. Ie: "X is cruel" vs "that person is cruel". Individuals are, not entire groups.

        Opposing prejudice and intolerance is sensible when the victims of that prejudice are innocent. Or when, as you pointed out, an entire race or group of people are being tarred by the actions of a few individuals.
        
        However, when discrimination of women, Jews, gays and non-muslims is part and parcel of a religion's ideology and it's adherents, then it is justified to make generalizations about that group, since the vast majority of them adhere to these practices and beliefs.
        
        Anyone who has some basic familiarity with Islam and with muslims would know such forms of discrimination are a mainstay in Islamic culture. So it would be a crime not to point out such things, or else they'll never end.

A lot of men are like this. They are immature and take a women saying no as the end of the world. They can not handle rejection and these are the kind of men who end up rapists or beating the shit out of their wives. He needs to go to the asylum or prison. He needs to stay away from you and your friend as long as possible. It sounds like if it would have continued he would have raped or at least killed her. This is typical reaction for men to be petty it does not mean its right or normal. They need to learn they can not do this to women and that it is not ok. Press charges and get him sent to prison maybe hope its a life sentence.

Stay away from him! He's a creep and an absolute loser. This guy and others like him are the reason why a lot of people lie when they get hit on by someone they're not interested in. I hate lying to someone and saying I already have a boyfriend but if I'm afraid they won't take rejection well I'll say that because I don't want any drama. Normally I have a heart for people with depression especially because I suffer from it but this guy is dangerous. His kind is reason I hate crushers. Some loser sees a girl or guy they like the looks of that they hardly know and said loser becomes obsessed with the unfortunate object of their affections. I hate it when a crusher says they're in love with someone their into when in fact what they are feeling is infatuation. People like this guy are not living in reality and they are not worth knowing. I hope ya'll counter sue. He should have been arrested for assaulting you and your female friend. Your father was defending you and your female friend. As far as I'm concerned your dad's a hero! If this guy doesn't go to jail then he belongs in a psychiatric ward and preferably one without any female patients! I think what upsets me the most was that after she rejected him he started pleading his case as to why he'd make a "good boyfriend." No is a complete sentence and that should be the end of it. No means no. This guy will probably grow up to be a rapist. I for one am glad your dad didn't kill this guy cause I wouldn't want to hear your father was sent to jail for accidentally killing this guy who's a piece of garbage.

    No he punched her. It is a law that if you hurt someone defending another it is self defense. Also you saw him punching her and have the dad as a witness who saved you.         No more to make an example. I knew people like this before and without being taught not to they continue to the piont they go to prison for almost killing someone. So this issue need to dealt with before the boy becomes a hazard to all of scoceity. That is how it starts and afte he is beating his wife and after that prison for battery and putting a girl in the hospital. He needs to atleast be taken to the to get cousling.
