Shaken not stirred, iin?

I am doing this because I'm starting to get really worried about my mom. She's had this problem where for no apparent reason she starts shivering uncontrollably and the doctors don't seem to know or want to know why this is happening to her. I've managed to get a small list of what happens to her when she starts shivering violently.

1. Uncontrollable shivering with teeth clattering
2. Face becomes flushed
3. Slight fever (happens before we smother in blankets)
4. Chills down spine before shivering

The only thing we can do right now is toss a bunch of blankets on her and try and keep her warm until it passes; which can sometimes take up to an hour. The doctors won't do anything without us pestering them and we can't pester them if we don't have anything to go on.

Is this happening to anyone else?

Is this mom really skinny but use to be fat?
She might need to eat more hearty meals to give herself strength.
    Food is energy.

I'm not sure what she is. She has Ulcertive Colitis (like Chrones Disease but in the other intestine) and that makes her badly constipated.
The hearty meal idea isn't a bad one though. She rarely eats and when she does it's usually cake or ice cream. Aside from what her disease limits her to (not that she listens to the doctor on what's bad for her), she's a notoriously picky eater.

Oh no...she also has UC?? That is truly horrible. My stepdaughter has Chrone's, she's in constant pain. She's probably a picky eater because of the GI ailments, but if she ate small amounts of certain foods regularly, it would give her the nutrients she needs and minimize the UC episodes to a large degree as well.

Please tell her to research her ailments, develop a plan and then stick to it, it's the only way.

We have before. My dad, sister, and I have all researched her disease and come up with plans but she doesn't follow them. We have all tried very hard to get her to live a healthier life, even the doctors. I'm the only one left that hasn't given up

It could be a side effect from all of the medications. Look up the side effects on them. Good luck!

Does this happen scheduled like every 12 or 24 hours or is it just at random times

It's just random. The only way she knows it will happen is when the cold chill runs down her back

Your mother likely has a medical condition, has suffered an injury, or, and you'll need to do some soul-searching here - is reacting to a substance (drug, alcohol, etc).

In any case, she should get medical attention when she's having an episode as the one you described. A qualified medical practitioner needs to examine her as soon as possible. I hope her condition improves!

She's been to several doctors and none know what's going on or care

Wow, that's very disturbing and must be very frightening for her and you (and the rest of the family). Hope you/she can get to the bottom of this.

It's difficult. Her disease means she's on a lot of pain killers and so she has a high tolerance to them so doctors just think she's a pain killer junkie
