Sex/masturbation: could you go without them?

I'm taking about going without anything that results in orgasm: Sex, masturbating, whatever. I've seen plenty of posts by people claiming that sex doesn't matter to them at all with lots of comments saying it is overrated.

My reason for asking is when I was younger I was convinced that it was wrong to masturbate so i repeatedly tried to stop. Short version is I couldn't do it. My views are much less conservative now but I wonder if I am outside the norm or addicted because I couldn't give it up back then. Yes, I am a guy by the way.

    I have stated that sex is over rated for different reasons and I will give my opinion on it.

    First sex and masturbation are 2 different subjects with a similar outcome.

    I did an experiment years ago to see how long I could go without masturbating. A little over a week and I eventually just started leaking and would get off just by rubbing my dick. After a couple days I began to get irritated because not getting off creates a tension the similar to having to piss.

    Orgasms are a natural biological function and I would imagine they would eventually happen on their own if not instigated.

    Sex is basically the same thing, but with another person. The same result can be made with or without them and while it can be nice to have someone join, the same results can occur either way.

    I do think that society is too obsessed on needing other people to feel good, not just with sex, but with any type of relationship. It's kind of pathetic that most people need someone else to feel good.

    In conclusion orgasms are a natural bodily function like any other one, and I am not sure if it is possible to hold it in for that long nor do I see why anyone would want to do that because the tension is uncomfortable, but I do not see why it matters how it gets done.

    No, I couldn't give it up. Why would I? It's not a crime and orgasms are one of life's great gifts.

        Insults.

        I know that's the nature of the internet, people don't really treat each other this way if they face each other, but it still hurts.

        I've gotten nothing but a beat down since joining and commenting.

    Are you asking if we could consciously choose to stop and succeed, or are you asking if we would fall into depression and possibly suicide without it? I can't do the first one, but I wouldn't fall into the second one.

    My life doesn't revolve around it, but I will say that on the few times I attempted to quit doing it I failed. Though there have been chains of days where I was either too busy or I simply wasn't horny and I skipped it without noticing.

    I don't have sex. I have never had the inclination to do so, so it isn't a big deal for me to go without. I gave up masturbation, because masturbation was never particularly satisfying. It was always very disappointing.

    I tell myself I can or am even considering giving up sex. I'm totally fine with masterbation fulfilling physical needs...I just don't know how my opinion will change if loneliness sets in.

    When I was 15 I stopped masturbating for a whole month because I was going on holiday with my family. We were in cramped quarters and I has no porn, so I decided it wasn't worth it. I didn't miss it much. Of course I'm more developed biologically now, but I don't think that would matter because my urges don't feel any more intense.
