Sensory deprivation: strange or relaxing?

I honestly don't know what anybody else thinks about it, but I LOVE the idea of having no control over my body or my senses. Being locked in a coffin, blindfolded, gagged, ear-plugged, tied-up and numbed down, and not smelling anything seems like an extremely relaxing experience for me. I constantly think and can't stop (I have insomnia), and when I can manage to shut down some of my senses, I end up thinking about not feeling anything, so its not an entirely genuine experience. Thoughts? Flames will be ignored, and this is NOT a bondage-fetish post, though I am into that kind of stuff. :D

I've heard about this- they put you in like a dark box with water and you're completely deprived of sensory capabilities. I read that it makes you hallucinate because your brain needs some sort of stimulation, so it makes it up

Kind of like if you stare at someone for a long time, they get a neon halo around their body. Your brain doesn't like to focus on one thing for too long.

I think it's normal to want to get away from your thoughts and turn off your brain for a bit. I personally do this by watching TV, but to each his own...

I like it because it means I can't be responsible for having hurt anybody, it means the world cant' get to me, I'm safe from it and, more importantly, it's safe from me.

Maybe you should try meditation and yoga just write down your thoughts until u cant write anymore...it should help with insomnia. It sounds like u are a very spiritual person and also a very sensitive person. I dont really have the answer for that. My advice would be to just enjoy it.

I've always thought that this is what TM and repetitive religious prayer/ritual is all about. Except that instead of physical deprivation, the mind is trained to ignore stimulation.

I think you should become severely handicapped. Then you'll be happy forever.
