Do you like stuff like that ?... learn things ?

I had a conventional education in which I was taught virtually nothing I didn't already know. My school time was wasted and I feel I'd have done a lot better at a Montessori school. My home life was pretty much like that, though. Just unguided. Or, rather, self-guided. Like which silver hallmarks relate to which year. Absolutely no use to me at all.

Your kids are going to get a better education than I did, and for that I am glad. I wish them well, and I wish you well for caring about this. You seem like a good parent. :)

Of course it's normal. I do it all the time. I have taught myself pretty much everything I know. And good for you for wanting to learn! The stuff they teach you at school is pretty useless anyway.

I have a degree on computer (never use it), on photography (I worked for a magazine), a degree in Early childhood ( my actual job)... but the thing is that education never stop. .. I'm not going back to school again (to expensive and no time) but I learn specific things i interested in. Braille, languages, clay, drawing, sign language, Soroban abacus,... you never know when it will come handy.

and.. you have to keep you engine brain working (read, make soduko puzzles, etc) so, don't get old and boring, right ?

  • Why are there people being negative to someone that has taught themselves new things? I have improved my grammar through self teaching.

The term is autodidacticism. I think just about everyone is like this, at least to a certain extent.
