Self riteous vegans annoy the hell out of me?

So basically, vegans piss me off. They have no real reason to refuse to eat any animal product, especially because animals don't get harmed or killed by having human's obtain their eggs, milk, etc. I can understand why a vegitarian might refuse meat, to make a stand against animal slaughter and the mistreatment of some farm animals that live in poor conditions just to be slaughtered for us to eat. I still think they're bat shit crazy for never eating meat as its both delicious and healthy, but I can atleast understand their reasoning but vegans, good god. The other day I had a former high school friend of mine explain to me why I am unhealthy because I eat meat, eat and drink dairy products, and use birth control. She proceeded to explain that by her being vegan, she lives a healthy life style by eating only vegetables, fruits and starches. This is some one who's 19 years old and smokes like a chimney and drinks like a sailor. I myself have never been a smoker, have consumed alcohal on a few occasions when I was 16 and 17 and have not touched any other substances. Keep in mind my vegan and oh so healthy friend is somehow overweight, despite being a vegan and therefore the epitome of health. Why are some vegans so self obsessed? I could relate if cutting any animal product out of your diet was actually healthy but, it isn't. So basically, does anyone else feel absolutely infuriated when a vegan tells you you're unhealthy for eating meat and dairy?

I'm a level 5 vegan. I only eat cabbages that have died of natural causes.

That's not because I'm vegan. I just prefer not to pollute the water table with soap.

My sister and brother-in-law live a vegan lifestyle. I am a carnivore. They used to piss me off until I read about the effects of over-consumption of tofu causing elevated estrogen levels in males. Now I realize that my sister is converting her husband into a girl, which makes my sister a closet lesbian. All their pontificating about veganism just makes me laugh now.

Being self righteous over any issue is kind of...annoying. I find most people who act this way really don't know much about nutrition and are just jumping on a bandwagon.

My favorite argument as of late is the climate change issue. Which I kind of agree with. We consume far too much meat is the US and that contributes to large amounts of preventable pollution. Not just in raising the animals, but the transportation of the meat across the country.

Ok so here's the thing. I think its possible for animal products to be healthy, but the meat/eggs/dairy you get from the store has a lot of weird chemicals in it.

The 19 year old vegan you were talking to is right that birth control is not healthy. Also she is probably going to die young NOT from being vegan, but from smoking. also fyi living on fruits, veggies and grains is healthy af.

Vegans will be the first to turn to cannibalism in the apocalypse.

Is it normal I hate that people can't be FUCKED to look up a common word they can't spell? Or am I being too self-"""RITEOUS"""?

It does actually harm the animals to harvest eggs and milk. There are also other ethical considerations that have nothing to do with animals, and also health reasons.

As others have said, it's the preachy anything aspect that is annoying, not matter what the behaviour. The hypocrisy just amplifies it.

And one example of someone (or even small group) behaving in an obviously stupid way isn't really a good reason to blame a whole group. I see various people in various people within groups doing all sorts of stupid shit...I don't attribute it to all of the same group. I attribute it to the fact that some people are just dumb cunts.

  • It's normal when they are preachy about it. I don't care if that is what they choose to do, but when they start telling people what to eat it is very annoying in the same way as religious solicitors are.

  • I think both vegans and non vegans should stop whining back and forth to each other. Who cares what someone else chooses to eat. It is pointless arguing. No matter what you say to the other person they are going to still think they are right.
