Seeing colours during a headache or while dizzy

There are times when I'm dizzy or have headaches where this colourful haze comes into my eyes. The haze is only one colour, and if I stare at it too long, it slowly takes over my vision. Sometimes it's pleasant, but a lot of the time, it worsens my dizziness/ headache. So, is this normal?

First of all, it is not normal to get dizzy or get headaches all the time. You need to go see a doctor, there are many things that could be wrong with you. People often see a color dots when they get dizzy, so that part is normal. Please see a doctor! Good Luck.

    • No, I don't get dizzy or headaches all the time, this is only sometimes when I'm dizzy, and the things I see are hazes more than coloured dots.

    A precursor to Synesthesia perhaps?

This happened to me last night! I was taking a shower then all of a sudden I felt dizzy and started to see colors. I could barely see my mom because it was really bad but also I could hear this whistling/beeping in my ear. I think this happened to me because I have been on my computer a lot because I now have online school.

Your symptoms are very similar to that of migraine.
I've also had some flashing and swirling patterns and then in 20 minutes i would get vety severe headache.

  • this is actually quite normal and is caused by lack of iron. several people i know including myself experience this from time to time. and if you NEED to do anything about it only depends on how often you get it. i get it maybe once a week so i dont mind it.

Maybe you have migraines? I don't have migraines any more, but when I had them and they were really bad, I would see colors, or see flashing patterns (usually checkerboard patterns). If I get really dizzy, I still see spots, or get tunnel vision. You should probably tell your doctor, but it's not abnormal.

You are having classic symptoms of a Migraine. These colors are called "Auras". You need to see a Neurologist. There are many effective non-narcotic treatments available.

It's a perfectly normal to get a spot of colour that starts off small and gets bigger like a haze over your vision, but it is usually immediately before you get a headache instead of while you actually have a headache. If this happens it means your headache is a migraine and the colour is what they call a "migraine aura". I won't go into the medical explanation for what causes the migraine aura but it isn't anything for you to worry about - Google it if you want to read more about it.

That's happened to me a few times. I usually see a green haze. It's really messed up! Usually lasts for about 30 mins or so. The first time really freaked me out. Hasn't happened in a while, thank goodness. But no, I wouldn't say it's normal.
