I don't understand why this only has 2/3 normal vote. It's completely normal for people with mental illness to date. Its sad that so many of them have a hard time finding people who are accepting.

You like the girl. The schizophrenia is just something that comes along with the girl. We all have problems of one kind or another. Keep focussing on the girl, not the schizophrenia.

Negative/cognitive symptoms can be harder to deal with.

* Appearing to lack emotion
* Reduced ability to plan or carry out activities
* Neglect of personal hygiene
* Social withdrawal
* Loss of motivation
* Problems with making sense of information
* Difficulty paying attention
* Memory problems

Posts like these make me glad to know that there's still hope that a mentally ill gal can get a date. ;) As long as your gf stays on her meds, all should be well.

It's normal, she may be just as interesting or more than a mentally sane girl. The problem lies on her inability to differentiate reality and fantasy. If the voice in her head "speak louder" than the voices outside her head and her own voice, then you'll have a problem, so to speak.

Normal, she deserves a little happiness too. :D
