Scary daughter 2 :(

Hello, I am the single mother with the scary daughter . If you haven't read my last post, open a new tab, go to this site and search "Scary daughter"

So as I mentioned before, she said my ghost was flying around the room. Well this time, it's an issue at school.

The teacher asked the students to write about what types of weather the liked the most. My daughter came home with her paper and showed me what she wrote and it said "I like severe weather because the school will get destroyed along with all the teachers and kids that I hate." It sent a chill up my spine, and all she did was smile when I read it.

I had a conference with the teacher and she suggested that I go to a child psychiatrist to have her evaluated. I really don't want to take her because I'm scared she might get brainwashed, but I want to find out what's wrong with my poor sweetie. :(

She was doing so good until now. Is this normal, what should I expect from this? :(

Help :(

  • I still do not understand why this concerns you. Kids do this kind of stuff all the time. When I was a kid I drew violent pictures all the time. Not everything in life is flowers and bunnies.

    • But you're not listening to the fact that she was smiling about people getting killed.

I smile about people getting killed too. I'm fine. Maybe she's the victim of bullying and is handling this the same way that I did? Hating them instead of hating herself.

Maybe she's smiling about people getting killed by severe weather because she is an outcast and violent thoughts ease her emotional pain?

        • My little sweetie :( I wish I could be there more for her. But it hard being a single mother working long hours. I wish my husband hadn't I left me for some young busty. I feel like this is all my fault she's like this. It may be a cry for attention.

      • But nobody was actually killed either. It's normal to fantasize about those things and even laugh about it. It doesn't mean they are going to do it. It doesn't even sound like she made an actual threat. When I was a kid I got in trouble for submitting a screen saver for the schools computer system in a screen saver design contest. I drew demonic ravens (the schools mascot) ripping people apart with the school burning down in the background and dead people all over the ground. The teachers were somewhat concerned but I still look back at that and think it's hilarious. Some people are way too sensitive.

        • Well said. I drew disturbing things in school.

I later got a scholarship to art school haha.

        • I'm just a little concerned of how she's going to turn out. But I sure as hell am not going to take her to a psychiatrist!

You're "sure as hell am not going to take her to a psychiatrist!", but you think you will get useful advice from a bunch of prepubescent teens and the other screwed up people that offer advice on IIN?
Are you for real? Do you really care about your child or are you just a troll?
The only advice I've got for you is for YOU to get real.

            • I'm just afraid of her being misdiagnosed. She's still so young and has plenty of growing to do.

I think it's important to look at her body language when she's showing you these things. It might be possible that she is joking and just trying to get a reaction. Because it would be weird if she was smiling about it if she was getting bullied.

She's a rebel in training. The school system is severely flawed and she might not fully comprehend that, but it seems that she has a good sense of the bullshit that's going on. Kids who stick out in the school system in such a way are likely to rise above society when they are older. She might not even mean what she says, but rather is just challenging the system. Maybe you should switch her schools. A magnet school where she can indulge in her own unique interests might be good for her.

When I was 12 we had a project in school where we had to demonstrate a problem on a paper grocery bag to be sent back to the grocery store and I drew a representation of population control - happy people on a globe waiting to die -partly because I was curious about the subject and partly because I felt people were already aware of all the other problems like pollution and endangered species. At the time I didn't know if I supported population control or what, I just knew it was different and it made a lame project more exciting. It is likely that the government has confiscated that bag and labeled me as a possible terrorist (or perhaps a good citizen) because that's what they do to people who think differently.

There's nothing wrong with her she's cool. Why not encourage her rather than try make her conform. Give her a high five from me.

I think it is a very good advice to take her to a child psychiatrist, I don't see what you're afraid of. Brainwashed? She's already brainwashed, hopefully they can brainwash her back to normal.

You must let go of your fear of child psychiatrists, they're good people and they know how to handle situations like these. Besides, what have you got to lose? She can't become worse than she already is, can she?

HEY, I used to degrade and destroy my yearbooks in grade school by writing stupid shit into them. I used to draw faces and say rotten things about certain students....

AND JUST LOOK HOW I TURNED OUT.

Or she might have Borderline personality disorder. People with Borderline have very intense emotions.

She does not sound borderline. And is way to young to have developed a true personality disorder at that age. Unlike mental disorders, personality disorders cannot be officially diagnosed until adulthood.
