I've experienced this before. For a short period of time, I had a potential suitor, who scared me so much that I became sick. My illness didn't resolve itself until I took steps completely avoid him.

I've also become sick, in the past, when dealing with phobias and experiencing anxiety. Avoiding those types of situations prevents the problem.

  • Maybe your anxiety weakened your immune system which made your more susceptible to getting sick. We are constantly exposed to cold germs and flu virus, but whether we get sick or not depends largely on how strong our immune system is. So many things can weaken your immune system to, including diet, stress, some medications, physical injury, depression, alcohol & drug abuse, lack of sleep, etc. If you ever get pimples, you'll notice that they take a few extra days to heal completely when you're sick compared to when you're healthy. That's because your body is too busy dealing with your illness and the pimples, because they are a minor infection, get put on the back-burner.

  • I don't know about that. But once this really mean large (ok, fat) kid who had this obsessive scary crush on me wanted to 'talk to me'. I didn't give him my number and made something up about going away that weakend but I caught a cold because I was so scared. Like he wanted to talk to me ALONE with no one else, that's how he worded it.

  • So, it's never occurred to you that you can have a physiological response to what you are thinking in your mind? Seriously?
