Am I the only person who gets freaked out/pissed off when people stare at me? If I notice someone staring at me it makes me really uncomfortable and if they keep staring after notice them, I actually want to shout at them. Sometimes I actually want to hit them. I mean, I thought everyone was taught as a child that it was rude to stare so why do people do it? I hate it.
The only way u can know if someone is staring us if ur staring back u never know they might just turn there head away everytime u stop lookin at them.
God, I totally feel you on this. I too want to shout or hit them, I don't stare at people and I feel they should do the same-it's rude! I have friends who stare at others and when I catch them and tell them to stop they're like "what?" or they'll be like "I didn't even know I was doin that".

People stare at me a lot, I suppose its because I stand out. It depends on my mood, but I'll either stare back or just smile in their direction as I pass or say hi! Kinda loud, like hi-eeee! and they're caught off gaurd. Its funny

No i feel you that shit irks me. Always happens on the bus or if im just trying to sit around someplace. Always some weird old creepy dude lol, never an attractive woman. WHAT'S UP WITH THAT?
I am the same. I get really upset when people stare as well. It makes me think something is wrong with me, or that I have something on my face or my fly is down. I wish people would realize how uncomfortable staring makes others.

I am a local Hong Konger and i have the same feeling especially when you mentioned you want to hit them.Staring is really rude and not showing any respect.
To me its a kind of humiliation,just liked being laughed.

Oh god. I feel the EXACT same anger when someone stares at me. No joke. It is one of my top pet peeves. I literally want to hurt the person, and I am not violent at all. Lmao I don't know what my problem is.
I can tell if they are spacing out staring and actually staring. It's the latter that bothers me of course.

It happens so much that I can always tell when someones checkin me out ha so i usually just look down or off to the side because I hate meeting the persons eyes & then there's that awkwardness ugh
But if people are staring I guess they find you attractive, take it as a compliment.
To many mammal species being stared at are a sign of potential aggression. Must be related to be 'targeted' by a predator maybe.
Many of us will react aggressively (aggression by fear) to be stared at. We'll take it as a challenge. But against this idea is that children will stare at each other, taking each other in, without getting angry. But again, the change can come naturally with puberty and the organic changes.
Fact is that yes, many will react angrily at being stared.
Thundercat, wow, that's a way of looking at it that I've never thought about before. I've been wondering about this since I was a child. I did get upset when stared at by other children though. I have very vivid memories of this from riding in the shopping cart at the grocery store so I must have been very small. I remember thinking "What's wrong with him/her? Stop it!" because it used to make me so uncomfortable. Makes sense...
well if you're an attractive straight guy, dont EVER go to Atlanta because those guys stare at you with a vengence. Staring at me in general makes me feel SO weird but when a guy or in my case 3 guys are blatantly staring at me when i am with a girl having dinner, THAT SHIT is REALLY bad. lol. I started to blow them a kiss as we both noticed it and she thought it was funny but then i would not have went to the bathroom. Its so strange cause my gay friends at home dont do that... well not blatantly anyway. Thats a whole nother story. but um... DONT STARE!!!
