Rubbing skin against fabric is it normal?

Ever since I was small, I can't remember when I always rubbed my fingers or thumb against fabric. But I have a piece of skin peeling off of the side of my nail, before I cut it off I usually rub it against the side of my pillow or the bottom inside of my shirt or silk. I wanted to know if this is normal or not?

    I really like feeling the texture of my stuffed animal seal in between my fingers. It's so soft. ^~^
