Several years ago I worked for Joan Rivers on a part time basis. I just want to say that she treated me (I am black) in a very decent, respectful way. She was a very down to earth woman who had no trouble speaking her mind, telling whoever to pretty much go eff themselves if she felt that they deserved to be told that. I am grieving her loss tonight very much. Maybe that is not normal for someone who did not get really close to such a well-known person, but Ms Rivers was truly one of a kind. Rest in peace Ms Rivers.

    While, I didn't know her personally, I don't think she deserved all of the vitriol that people will/have sent her way. She was still a human being. I hope her soul goes to good place.

    I'm glad there is at least one person on here who has something nice to say about the woman. Thank you.
    All too often we allow ourselves to believe the public persona of a celebrity is the true character of that person, which quite often it is not.

    I think she definitely said some things without thinking but she was getting older so she probably lost her filter entirely. A lot of celebrities start saying stuff after 60 without at all thinking so it's not right for some to call her evil just for that alone.

    I really do hope she rests in peace and that people just leave her be. My thoughts go to the family and friends as well.

    I was on another post making jokes about the death of Joan rivers, but I agree with CC on there- the woman was foremost a comedian. The joy that she brought to people was given through her often self deprecating sense of humor and biting tongue. I don't think she would have disapproved at a few jokes about her death: I think it would have given her a chuckle.

    That having been said, celebrities are human beings. She did have friends, family, people that she touched. Sorry for your loss, OP.
