Rinsing the shower of spiders

It seems that spiders really love two places - the shower/bath and the stairs. I've lost count of the number of times I've run out of the shower because of these sneaky guys. As a precaution, I now rinse all of the shower walls before stepping in. I've been doing this for years now. Just a few days ago, I broke the habit of a lifetime (just did a quick rather than a thorough rinse) and just as I was going in, a HUGE BLACK SPIDER came scuttling out from nowhere.
...
Just a nice reminder to keep up the checks I suppose. Does anyone else take this extra precaution?

    I'm terrified of them!

Spider fact-a black widow got its name because after having sex with the male it would kill it.

I'm probably jinxing myself, but I haven't seen any spiders in the shower or my towels.

I have arachnid-phobia, but I don't check the shower before i get in. Maybe I should, seems I found one in my room today before I left to go visit my family. :<

      Yes...perhaps you should x)

Check your towel as well. A while ago, my dad told me that as was drying off, he felt something crawling...and yes, a spider was on his shoulder. This is true. It's why I'm cautious with my towels too.

      Let the paranoia begin.

As long as you fear them, they will keep appearing.

I really don't like things with more than 4 leags, spiders particularly.

But there are spiders all the place here. Many of them out the back where I wash my clothes. I'm not entirely comfortable, but I've gotten used to them now. They're just there.

Or it could be a message I haven't figured out yet.

Same here, it's not just spiders, but anything many legged that moves in an unpredictable way.

However, I have overcome my fear a few times. I still remember when I found a trampled daddy long-legs (crane fly is the proper term I think) near the front door. Just the look of those things are enough to make me shiver, but after a long time of just sitting by it and staring at it, I finally got enough courage to pick it up gently and put it on a tissue. I cleaned its wounds with a cotton bud and water, but sadly, it died. Sounds ridiculous, I know, but I was a kid then.

So it can be done. I just need to get used to all such creatures, all of the time, somehow.

  • I don't rinse down the shower, but I do, do a visual inspection. I'll check in the tub behind the shower curtain, and behind all the bottles of shampoo and body wash. If I do find one, I rinse it away with scalding hot water, so I'm sure it's dead.

Probably not, but since you see spiders in your house's shower more than usual I guess you're fine.
