Response to complainers?

I'm tired of people who are always complaining about trivial stuff. Usually I just nod, agree or whatever because it's easier and nicer than saying what I actually want to say. I don't want to do that anymore so I thought I'd start saying this simple response: "would you rather be dead?"

I thought it would stun them but probably not offend them and maybe they'd think twice before complaining to me again.

Is this a good idea?

      Yeah I realize that. I'd complain about your comment being unhelpful too but I don't want to overdo it.

    Part of my job entails listening to people who complain. Sometimes they moan about virtually nothing.

    I sometimes have to stop myself from saying something along the lines of 'if this is the worst thing you have to worry about, you are a very lucky person'.

    I think people who complain just want to vent and that they mostly aren't looking for help or an unwanted comment, just agreement. So, I guess it depends who you decide to reply to.

    What gets me are people who complain about what happens to them but have no tolerance for you complaining about what happens to you...with them you never hear the end of anything but you can't get a word out before they are telling you to just get over it and move on.

    I try to sympathize with them, I complain a lot so I try to feel for them. Idk I'm not as much of an ass hole as I used to be.

    LOL thats funny when u think about it. I think it would actually make them mad maybe u could either give them suggestions or "it sux but it will get better" or just tell them u just cant take hearing about it anymore u have some of ur own stuff ur dealing with (even if its a little white lie).

    I respond simply with "blah" drives them crazy, I don't really like moaners but I love watching people go ape shit!

    It's also quite annoying when people are over sensitive to casual complaints, like "nooo, nooo, don't complain, I don't want to hear that!!! ohhh god, noooooo, somthing negative in my day!"

      I know. It's just that when trying to be a positive person all the time and hearing the same lame complaints 10,000 times, it gets tiresome. When does it become unfair to me? I feel like at this point I have the right to complain. And I'm doing it anonymously so, even better.
