Relapse???

I'm a recovering addict, who had 103 days clean until I relapsed, once 7 days ago and once yesturday. I don't want to go back down that road again. It's hell on earth. I didn't relapse on my drug of choice, but I did relapse. I know relapse is part of some peoples' journey, but I feel like I'm regressing. Is this all normal?

My boyfriend is a recovering heroin addict. He's been clean for over two years now. You just have to have the will power to realize that drugs don't run your life. I don't know what you were addicted to but you have to think about all of the pain you went through to get clean and all of the pain you were in when you didn't have drugs. Do you want that again? Just stay strong and stay away from drugs. This might even mean losing people from your past, but it will be the best thing for you, I promise.

Yes, there can be relapses during recovery. Just climb back on the wagon. And good luck.

It's normal and it happens but I've found that a lot of people who relapse were not walking hand in hand with their higher power. I'm willing to bet that you didn't ask God to keep you sober that day

Perfectly common in recovery and perfectly dangerous ad well. The switch of drugs of choice is often the afflictions way of pulling you down into another bender. And, each relapse will be worsevthan the previous and harder to stop. Look at the following, as I believe that pain in recovery is what causes relapse, not thatvyou haven't had enough and need to hurtore to stay sober. 1). Make a list of things that you know are triggers for you. Which trigger sent you out?

2). What were your thoughts, feelings, and attitudes like during tjhe days before you used? (possibly a situation in which you thought old thoughts, felt old feelings, and experienced old attitudes. Work with a sponsor and try and get to steps four and five without rushing the previous. Me? Sober 27 months. It is doable if I can. May the force be with you.

Relapse is normal. Don't forget what you ultimately want: to be drug free. Find someone you can talk to about your recovery. Keep your head on straight and you can beat this!

Relapses can become part of a person's story but they do not have to happen. The truth is that when a person relapses they want to use/drink more than they want to be clean/sober. When you are new there is a lot of chaos and cravings. As one builds time the benefits act as a deterrent to picking up again. You don't want to lose what you have gained. Make a personal commitment not to pick up. It is not that you can't, but that you choose not to.

I too am in recovery and have been sober for a few years now. It's good to talk about what happened but u also need to look at what caused u to pick up again. Were u around old friends, did u stop talking to your sponcor or sober friends, was it boredom? You will be ok just try not to do it Gain and go to a meeting and tell on yourself! Best wishes!!!
