I am a female in early thirties. Once I had very high fever and very weak but was in sense. During that time our family doctor, who was also a female, regularly took my temperature rectally. I was not really embarrassed since it was just me and the doctor present at the times. Is it normal for a woman in thirties to have the thermometer in the rear.
It is the most accurate way to measure someone's temperature, especially if you have a fever as your temperature can fluctuate in areas like your head, under the tongue, arm pits etc. and can be unreliable.
So, this has happened to other people too? It happened to me, when I was a child, but for what I believe to have been for different reasons... And, not by a doctor. It was under the guise of it being the most accurate way of taking temperature... Anyway, my doctor's nurse(s) never took my temperature rectally. It was always orally. I hope your doctor thoroughly sterilised/replaced/covered that thermometer because, these logical precautions were never taken in my place, at least that I can recall, and the device was probably crawling in bacteria.

The doctor was doing it that way so she could taste your chocolate factory when she got home ( cant blame her really) I bet she loved the taste!!!
