I have a girlfriend and she is the nicest person in the world and i love her to death but i am afraid to hug her in public or at school

My friends who are also a couple have no problem displaying there affection publicly and do it when ever they can it always makes things awkward between me and my girlfriend like is she expecting me to do the same what should i do in this situation? Is it normal for PDA to feel awkward like this?

    I think it's entirely normal, I'm the same, I'm very close to my partner and don't have any problem showing affection in private, but I can't bring myself to do it in public. Tell your girlfriend though, if you don't she might think it's because you don't like her.

    Sometimes it depends on age. High school? Kind of not normal. Middle school? Very normal.

    I think it's normal, but just let her know, because otherwise she might feel neglected and upset.
    I don't mind couples showing affection in public, and if you get to a point where you do feel comfortable doing so, just don't go overboard. I mean seriously, people don't want to see live porn, it irritates people.
    Just keep it low. :)

    if you love her you shouldnt mind showing affection to her
    your gonna make her feel either unloved or you'll make her think that your embarassed by her
    i show affection to my girlfriend in public without even thinking about it

    i think thats a shame if you dont feel comfortable enough to hug your girlfriend in public. its different if your full on kissing in public which can make other people around feel awkard, but hugging, putting your arm round her or holding hands is fine, you should do it :-)
