Puking after eating

I've had a problem fpr a while now where I puke after eating some meals. I used to have disordered tendencies that involved severe calorie restriction (~500-600 kcal/day) and purging. However, I think I recovered and now am (trying) to eat normally. My only problem is now sometimes I puke involuntarily after meals. I don't know if this is acid reflux, subconscious purging, or what. I don't know if it's related to the past disoredered tendencies. Is this normal? Could it be just stomach shrinkage? I'm not sure.

I agree, please talk with a doctor about this. I commend you for working on recovering from this eating disorder. I send you hugs for working through this as much as you've had!

      • Thanks, it's gotten a lot better since I realized it was a problem, but for some reason it got way worse again recently. I'm making a doctor's appointment and hopefully it will go well!

    You must have bulimia

Have you figured out any pattern? Is it certain foods you can't keep down? Or more to do with meal size maybe? Or maybe psychological factors like stress?

    • I'm not really aware of any pattern. It comes and goes, but for the most part it's after every meal right now. I guess it could be stress related; it is a rather stressful time for me right now, and the problem is currently almost the worst it's ever been.

My money is on the psychosomatic explanation, but I'm not doctor. And honestly you should probably see someone who is. But failing that I suppose trying to take care of yourself and get your stress level down might help.

        • You're probably right; I am making an appointment, there's just a waiting period of a few weeks for new patients. Hopefully this will work itself out, and I'm currently just eating small meals and trying to relax as much as I can. Thank you.
