Is it normal to have this view of life?
The poor want their needs met, the rich want to stay rich, the wise are either rich or poor and want what rich or poor people want.
I know many people with net worth between $1M and $4M. Seems to me that they desire wealth preservation more than anything. Although they have broad horizons, tranquility is the last thing they will ever get.
Why would someone desire heaven or riches or anything really? It's to have the peace of mind or contentment that comes with it. Most people desire the same basic things but do not realize it.
The rich desire power and immortality, not heaven. They've stepped over the bodies and souls (so to speak) of many to become rich, so they know heaven ain't in the cards.
When I was poor, all I desired was food, for my daughter and I.
I've never been wise, so I don't really know, but tranquility sounds awfully boring to me.
