Polyamory loving multiple people simultaneously!

I have been in a polyamorous relationship with my wife for 16 years, and I am only 36!

Polyamory is simply the acknoledgment that, in humans, if you can overcome the conseit of jealosy, love is infinate and is not directly intertwined with sexual fidelity.

I have had girlfriends and my wife has had boyfriends. We have both cared deeply for our secondary relationships and they have cared for us. We have always found that having other partners that we have relationships with helps us in finding those little things that we can do to approach perfection in our relationship. In fact, as I write this, my finance is at her boyfriend's house. This man also happens to have become by best friend. I know that he loves her and that she loves him and that their relationship makes both of them happy. How selfish would it be of me to deny the person I love the most in the world the companionship of someone who contributes to her happiness? The only reasons anyone would object to such a thing are either jealosy or the adherance to social norms, both of which are poor reasons to deprive a loved one of happiness.

It is rare for them to work out, because eventually someone becomes the odd man/woman out.

Besides, who wants to remember that many birthdays?

I suppose it could be normal in another society, but good luck trying to find partner ok with it. You should be honest.

depends upon what you mean by "love". if you mean sexual relations, then by all means it is becoming more normal in today's society. But, if you mean love, as in committed relationship ( which BTW, is not a self-serving deal but when you are committed to serving the other person[s] above your base desires ) then there are many more things which must be considered. Be careful and make certain that all involved are on the same page. Shucks, have a f**king orgy!

I wish I could find a polyamorous situation. For me, as a woman, my ideal would be man, me, and another woman. I don't why, it's not so much about sex as intimacy.

Been guilty of this a few times..It's not easy. Had one who I really enjoyed, she was gorgeous, the sex wonderful..But she was a bit crazy. We still had a great connection (and still do). And another, at the same time, that I didn't love, but, got along well with, sex was good, and she had the personality of liking to be told what to do. I kept her around for that reason.

Break came when the one I didn't love went a bit crazy, herself. Told myself, hell..If I'm going to be with someone nuts, it may as well be the hotter one that I have more connection with.

This is not even a marriage. There is no commitment. It is o paper only. I do not understand why people would bother ti wed if they are not committed. Its just a bunch of '60's free love drivel from people who dont want the responsibility of a real marriage.

Such a marriage is baseless. There is no commitment here. It's just that free love crap from the 60's for people who don't want a real bond.

It's hard to find two or more other willing partners that all vibe and feed off each others chemistry and all have equality in the relationship. Polyamerous relationships are very difficult to maintain in most situations. Someone always ends up getting left out or getting 'the short end of the stick' so to speak

Yeah, I've always wanted two girlfriends at once and wouldn't mind if they had other boyfriends as long as we were all clean, but I haven't been able to find anyone who is willing. Oh well.

some societies have both polyamory and polygamy. Ussally it is one person having all the poly, like the Mormons with multiple wives.

What about a relationship where you had a partner. The two of you served a person above you. Each of you had two people below you who served you.

All of these relationships formal, ie a form of marriage.

I am not sure I go for the having casual girlfriends, boyfriend outside a marriage.

But should you choose to do that, I find from experience when your partner brings your paramour, your relationship gets stronger. Rare is the couple who can survive a relationship where the partner is out hunting on their own.

They do exist, the gentleman above is a testament to that fact, but extremely rare.

it's fine if everyone in the relationship is ok with it, though if one person wanted a monogamous relationship and the other didn't there could be problems.
just find like minded people and do what you like.
