Is it normal to feel anger towards game characters with nasty, judgmental attitudes the same way I would feel if it was a real person? I know it's "just a game" but for some reason, I don't feel they have a right to direct insults at me, because I do take it personally, in real life. Killing them in the game doesn't make me feel better about it.
Every time in oblivion that i go wood elf/thief i have low personality so people often shout at me to go away or shut up. Many times it brings me a little down, but I suppose that is the fun in playing a RPG.
You're empathic and sympathetic. Practice mindfulness and look at WHY you feel such thoughts and emotions. Some people are just wired this way.
That's actually the point of the heel characters in video games. They're meant to make the player feel angry at them. I remember raging at some of the characters in Pokemon and the WWE games(Good times!). In the end, one needs to not take it too seriously and remember that they're not real people, just programming.
