People online don't exist in reality?

I have met many people online and have really got to know them
However I have never met anyone like the people I meet online in reality
and it's not that I don't look because I do go out and meet new people
so am I just not looking hard enough or is it that people take up a different personality when they are online?

People online are weird, shunned and judged by the offline. They hide in corners and don't speak. Look in corners for the ones you want to meet.

My life is the internet so I am no different.

People like to think that Batman doesn't exist in reality.
    But I do.

It's easier to communicate online because you don't have to look tha person in the eye. Truth is, you don't really know them, and they don't really know you. If your relationship falls out, you can just pretend to be a different person. You don't have to be yourself and they don't have to be themselves. It's far more comfortable meeting someone online than in real life. I'm sure this is very normal.

They probably act a different way in reality or keep to themselves. I do both

In real life I wear a preventive "angry frown"-mask, in order to make people stay away from me.

Well I'm pretty weird on and off line, my alternative look scares a lot of people off apparently. XD

I think the major difference is that here we have a little more time to think out what we're saying, so we're able to come across better. This can make it easy for people to be fake. It can also make it easy for people to be more genuine.

    I prefer the latter. :)

I don't think you're weird at all. And I'm not just saying that because your profile contains perhaps my favourite line from perhaps my favourite comedian.

I'm the same offline but my famously screwy body language confuses people and some of them don't give me a chance or listen to what I'm actually saying. In that sense, I appear different offline, but I'm not. The people who do give me a chance (i.e., my friends) would know me on this site instantly and say that I'm the same in both mediums. I.e., sometimes annoying.

Sometimes annoying and very rape-able it seems.

Ahh, it seems to happen about once a year that people want to insert something inside me. Your time will come. :P

When you put it like that, I kind of hope not.

People are more themselves online than in person. In person, people are stiff and they try too hard to be perceived as perfect so they end up being the opposite of who they really are. You really get to know people online more than in person.

The anonymity of being online lets people be both more open with their opinions and quirks, and also to be someone they're normally not. So I guess it kinda goes both ways. I'm asocial offline, so I get my socializing done online. But I'm positive that if I were more outgoing, I would be exactly the same as my online personality. 60% positive. >_>

So I guess it's just that I need to get to know people better? right?

  • I am way more open online than I am in person. There are only two people my real life that I am 100% open with.
