People hate fat people

I'm fat. It came on suddenly after 26 years of being a normal weight. 80lbs in 6 months. I went to the doc. Turns out I have a thyroid disease. I started my meds. There's just one thing that's bothering me,,,,,,,

People hate fat people and, therefore, they hate me.

People who don't KNOW me hate me and auto think I'm lazy and eat all junk food, I don't. I want to get outside and go for a walk, I used to run until my weight became a burden. Who wants to go outside when there's all those people out there disgusted by the sight of me? Makes me feel like I'm the scum of the earth. I hope those people never go through this. It can happen to anyone.

I hate all fat people 22
I hate fat people on scooters 24
I hate fat people who eat food 4
I don't hate fat people at all 19
I know what it's like to be fat like you 15
I don't care who is fat and who isn't 45
I love fat people 11
Help us keep this site organized and clean. Thanks!

You have hypothyroidism? I just read that in a comment but if you do...join the club! Mine came in a packaged deal with the type 1 diabetes :). I had no idea it could make you gain weight. Hopefully you have a good doc that has found the right dose of synthroid/armour thyroid/whatever else for you! At least now that you know what it is, things can only get better!

I don't really hate fat people, though I will admit that I do assume that they lack self-control at first sight. I don't assume that every overweight person I see has a thyroid problem.

I also don't act on it. I'm not going to treat a fat guy differently just for being fat. If I see a fat guy jogging, I'd sooner applaud than start chucking tomatoes at him.

If you want to go for a run, then go for a run. What moron would look at that and start hating on you?

I don't hate fat people at all. I hate those who are jerks to others just for the way they may look. Shallowness really gets to me.

    Dear friend,

many people will think what they think. In actuality, they target people with different problems to mask their own because they may feel insecure. This is sadly common in today's society. You are not scum, you are a good person with a lot of heart. Don't let others put you down.

Also I Love fat people because they are so huggable and cuddly. It is like when I hug a person who is overweight, I never want to let 'em go. so with that being said, there are a lot of people besides myself that are chubby chasers.

I think it's more that ( unfortunately for me) it's seen as fairly socially acceptable to make fun of fat people so you hear it more

So when did you get your degree in medicine?

I didn't, but I work for four doctors, two of whom are endocrinologist s (hormone specialists) and one who is (in part) a thyroid surgeon. One of the endo's actually happens to be wrapping up his PhD in thyroid diseases.

OP - from all I've heard, the right combination of diet, exercise and medication will help you. Contrary to what Lucien thinks, weightloss isn't as simple as expend more energy than you put in, when it comes to hormonal imbalances.

I hope that you can reach your goals and be healthy.

That sucks. Maybe this just sounds like spiritual mumbo jumbo but maybe this will put you on a different path, challenge builds character right?

I love fat people and i don't care about how they are. They're people too. Whether they can control it or not you should be proud of who you are. Ignore those shallow people who hate you. They aren't worth your time. There are just as many people who like fat people. I admire fat people

I am a heavyweight guy myself at 250 lbs and I admit its cause of my diet, but I am proud of who I am, if people have a problem with me than thats their loss.

If you have a thyroid problem, then what you can do is figure out every single way you can to fix the imbalance. I was at a point in my life when I was around 230 lbs. I am a brain cancer survivor and have always had trouble exercising due to the extensive surgeries I had and because vigorous exercise always left me with headaches that would last for days. So I started walking in short bursts at first, then building up and up and up and within 6 months, I had lost 55 lbs. I'm around 175 now and I'm over 6 feet tall, barely. So I'm actually at a normal weight for the first time in probably 3 years. My pituitary and pineal gland were irradiated during radiation treatment on my pineal gland (where the cancer was). It is possible for anyone to lose weight as long as you don't have any physical limitations, like fibromyalgia or lupus. But be prepared to work your butt off for the initial few months every single day. Correct your thyroid problems naturally by looking on the internet for solutions. And don't sit down at all. I also never sit, except when driving. I'm constantly moving or standing. Seriously, if you want to ramp your metabolism up, just don't sit, move throughout the day, try to walk 7-10 miles a day (a pedometer is helpful), and eat only REAL FOOD. Nothing processed, nothing that you couldn't grow yourself. Look at what you are eating because that is about 80% of the battle. The other 20 is exercise and not sitting. Just remember that once you get the imbalance fixed, you will definitely lose the weight. Just Google "natural hypothyroidism cures/treatments."

Wow, I also have a thyroid disease. I am hypothyroid and am taking synthroid right now but it doesn't help me. I only eat 900 calories a day, always have. I'm an active person and yet, I am slightly overweight, still. I was only 118 pounds until I got this disease three years ago and have been in the 140s ever since and slowly am gaining a bit more. I can't even eat any junk food because I'm terrified. I want to be 118 again but can't seem to get down. I even exercise more than ever now but nothing happens to me. My best friend is 109 pounds and eats too much and I'm the opposite and I weigh so much more. It's a sad predicament to be in and I honestly get depressed over my weight all the time. I feel like so many people do judge others without knowing their situation. I'm sure there have been people who assumed I ate too much or didn't work out. I have a gym membership, I jog every other day for an hour, I'm very active and I don't eat much at all but I weigh more than the average person.

I don't think people hate fat people, they hate stupid people (who are often fat) and sometimes people on the street are bullies depending on the area. Appearance does seem to play a role in if people feel good around you, but it's complicated. There are plenty of nice fat people who appear very likeable. Also if it's caused by a disease you aren't going to be 'super-sized' fat, so if you live in America you have that going for you. The point is if you have a nice personality and a good mood you'll be likeable, it's the obnoxious fat people who get a lot of hate.

I dont need a degree in medicine to be able to know how weight loss works. All it takes is consistent exercise and diet to lose weight.

Your using that as an excuse its your own mental block stopping yourself from losing weight. Does your thyroid problem make you eat junk food or not exercise?

Good on you for outting him. He tells me I'm a bitch for being straightforward...but is so much of a coward that he'll make a nasty comment through ignorance and delete it as if it's ok if no one sees it but the person he's picking on.

Seriously, he has no idea. Particularly for someone who talks of the toxins in water...there are so many toxins in our environment nowadays, this is a huge factor in rising hormonal imbalances.

It is true that many people just need to eat right and exercise more to lose weight, but hormonal imbalance (and other factors) are increasingly an issue for people. Pretending it isn't does not help them, and shaming them for it is just cruel.

          • this young fellow thinks he has it all figured out and nobody can tell him otherwise. he ignored everything you and I told him. he refused to learn that hypothyroid disease affects metabolism.

me thinks he's been a victim of some bullying when he was a chubby lad. maybe. he's older and leaner now. he wants to distance himself from that chubby lad he was by stereotyping all fat people. he wants people to know he is not with the fat group no more. the bullied became the bully.

at least i understand his mind on this, others im not sure

Thank you for your understanding and helpful info. you are a kind and wise lady

Not a problem. He is a hate filled individual. I'd feel more pity if he wasn't so smug about it.

Just spotted this in email, so I'll reply to it, not that he'll be paying attention but for consistency.

So your saying its impossible for people who have thyroid disease to lose weight through consistent exercise and diet? They should accept being fat or get surgery?

I disagree with you. Sure having the disease will make it harder for him to lose weight but its not impossible. Consistent exercise and proper nutrition will burn the fat off.

No. If you had actually bothered to use your highly developed literacy and comprehension skills, you would have seen that I said that the most effective treatment is the correct combination of diet, exercise and medication.

I said nothing about surgery. I firmly believe, and have heard from my aforementioned doctor clients as well as other sources, that surgery is rarely a viable option as it does nothing to address hormonal or lifestyle changes which are the two major factors in weight management (two, not one).

At no point did I encourage the OP to stay at their current weight. At no point did the OP express a desire to stay at their current weight. You are just unable to deal with the facts of the matter and are being brat.

I dont think they hate you they just hate looking at the fat its not appealing to look at, they dont hate you.

I got pretty fat in highschool but I got tired of being treated like shit so I did something about it and lost the weight. Its true that fat people get treated like shit. If you want to get treated better shed that weight off. It will be good for your health and relationships.
